Toughest Drivetrain and Axles Parts?
 

Hi Guys,

I have a BMI TC-3 Chassis and wanted to build-it as tough as a tank.

A local friend told me that there were TI parts available for the drivetrain and suspension. Have been searching on the web, but haven't found any driveshafts, collars, axles or othere parts.

Can some one tell me what is the best way to bullet proof the drivetrain and rear suspension mount for the TC-3?

Any help would be welcome, since there is an ocean between me and the tracks were I could see some of these items.

Ray, i found if you poured boiling water over the bumper and let it sit in some for a couple of minutes it was simple enough to bend it back into place. Alternativly, stay off those boards! ;)

Thanks for the tip-and of course-if you and I both stayed off the boards-we wouldnt need a bumper at all!!! :lol:

Does anyone know any good mod rubber setups for a low traction track now??? thanx in advance for the info, i won't be around for few days though.

Josh, I have one that should work. You may have to adjust it a little to get a bit more steering but I think it should be a good baseline. Send me an IM and i'll give it to you.

is the new tc4 a graphite chassis or is it a tub chassis?

i heard its still a tub with the batteries moved in toward the driveshaft and that it can use the nitro steering rack.thats what i heard but im not 100% on that.

FRONT BUMPER _ EASY SOLUTION.

Have a look at the pic. This is how I did it.

Remove the circular front section of the stock plastic bumper. In other words you now just have a mounting for the body posts.

Trim another bumper to fit on top of the foam and bolt up as in the pic.

It's been on this car for almost 2 years and is still like new despite being raced constantly. I have done the same conversion on about another 6 or 7 TC3s and they all work OK.

Incidentally the foam is Yokomo MR4 or YR4.

I too have heard that the new one is a tub with subtle mods like repositioning the cells and steering geometry.

I suppose it's understandable. Why replace something that's perfectly good and still winning after 5 years.

I just purchased an integy sutup station and in attempting to setup my tc3 found that the rear toe is always almost 2 degrees more on the left than on the right. I tried changing the rear arm mounts( r,r+3+2) and found it had no effect. I was wondering if this is designed into the car or if I have further problems.

It is not designed that way. Swap hubs and see if the problem transfers to the other side.

JWATT probably hit it right on the money. I have had rear hubs bend but not break. Even graphite ones. Losi hubs will solve this problem if thats it.

This comes up every now and then, apparently there was a bad batch of hubs an eternity ago, probably not the cause, but possible.

The problem is most likely the way you assembled the rear suspension, specifically the pin brace. The pin brace is made of relatively soft plastic and if it is not installed square on, the hole will round a bit and cause the difference from left to right.

The wrong way is to get one side on, then pull/struggle to get the other side to go. It must slide on both sides at the same time.

rayhuang- does BMI sell that bumper brace you have? That is a perfect fix and looks tight.
