Move Battery To Center

Can somebody please tell me how much to cut the chassis to move the
battery to the center

=MisFitz= NuKe 11-17-2003 07:08 PM

well, i forgot exactly how much i took off, keep going till your batts almost touch the shaft

I cut half out of the mid brace and move it over. The batteries will rub the shaft without any battery bars on the batteries..With Battery Bars the shaft is about 1.5-2mm from the shaft

my batteries are about 1/8 of an inch away from the driveshaft in front position and about .030 of an inch away from outdrive in the rear position.this is the way my chassis comes cut.the battery slots are also moved a little bit forward so under certain track condition, the rear can be utilized.i personaly run them in front position.rear felt good i just like having a little extra front bite

tir screws

TiR titanium screw kit! pretty expensive, but all use 2.5 mm (or something.) lighter than stainless, stronger than alluminum.

Has anyone else tried the tobee craft hardened steel cvd bones from speedtechrc? I have had great experiences with them so far; they seemingly have no wear and are very light considering they are steel. Not to mention they are only 11 bucks.

because one of my friends told me that I should turn the radio on when measuring my toe, but everytime I move the steering the degree changes (cause me a headache), any tips for me?

Thanks guys, apreciate ur help

To horatio , thanks for the essay :)

Trust me, you're not insane. What you're seeing is Ackerman. Ackerman is designed into every car and turns the inside tire slightly MORE than the outside tire because it actually turns a tighter circle than the outside tire does. An exceptional article to demonstrate this principle can be found here: RCTek.com

So - you want your steering centered to measure toe-in. I don't turn on my radio (bad habit at the track and it's not always centered. . .). With my TC3, I look underneath - there's a little hole that is centered underneath and just slightly behind the steering rack - if you look through it, you can see the screwhead that goes through the cam portion of the rack. When you can stick a 1/16th (I think) driver into that screwhead via that hole, you're centered! No radio, centered. . .

Now, for a shortcut to that - take an Xacto knife and scrape the top edges of your steering rack on either side of the driveshaft (once you've gotten it centered) - now you have a view from above. . .

I normally cut right down the center of the "X" truss. If that is too close(or if you get too close to the shaft), then just add some strips of lexan, or foam to move the battery away from the shaft. When the chassis is cut, I like to leave the battery in the "front" position, because of more clearence for the drive cups.

Heat Sink

Hi,
This may or may not have been asked before, but here goes.

Ok, I understand that the radial heat sink (that clips directly on the motor) would actually increase heat because it blocks the vents, so I dont plan to use that. I have the Team kit, and it has the standard small black heatsink attached on the motor mount, would the FT motor mount (the larger blue one) provide better cooling, or is it even noticeable ?
