He was saying that he reads RCTECH, so he might be reading the posts... Also, he was saying how he did not see any difference in different carpet, and he said,"carpet is carpet, right?". But I could be wrong about this... |

Thatis where Walter is incorrect.......Carpet from different manufacturers are extremely different in traction characteristics.

Thanks James.
Can I try your d1 on saturday?

John Scott has my car right now and is doing some 19t testing with it. He should be there on Saturday. I'm not sure yet if I will be there on Saturday. I'm sure John will let you drive it in practice. It was dialed last Saturday when he ran it. I think he TQ'ed with 27 laps.

Pic showing overall electronics placement...

Pic showing how close the servo arm is to the rack at full swing... notice how close the lower servo ears are to the ribbing in the chassis... butted right up against it. In the previous pic you can see how close the speedo servo and receiver are... and the servo is placed forward in the chassis as far as it can go. Maybe now you can understand why i asked where the room for an aftermarket servo saver came from in MikeD's car. I guess i could have placed the receiver on top of the servo, or maybe on its side... but i seem to have an affinity with getting everything flat on the chassis if at all possible. :flaming:

What we tend to recommend (and I say We because it's the general advice) is to start with one you think is close and then adjust from there. If Barry's trackside setup is pretty close, then adjust from there. If it's a tad loose, then either soften the rear a touch or stiffen the front a touch. . .you know. . . |
MisFitz- I really like that. Seriously, it looks so clean, I want my next body to be red now:nod:

Motor Clamp
Hi all,
Anyone ever have the problem where no matter how tight you tighten down the motor clamp/heatsink the motor remains loose enough that under power it eventually pulls away from the spur giving you that really nice grinding sound? I had that problem on Saturday. No matter what I did it wouldn't keep the motor from pulling away. I mic'd the motor cam and it was round and .870. Checked against a brand new one and exactly the same diameter. Had the original motor clamp/heatsink so spent the cash and bought the FT one with the larger fins. Same exact problem. DNF first qual, had to run to pit in second qual to reset pinion and finished fast enough to get 3rd position in B main. Then in B-main happened again just after I took the lead, and I just walked off totally frustrated. After I got home and chilled out here is what I did to fix it so that it clamps the motor. After I had time to sit down at home and look at it without getting all frustrated again(like at the track that night.) On the spring side I took a flat file and basically filed down that little ridge where the screw goes into the chassis, and then took it down a bit further. Now the motor stays in place. Anyone else EVER have this happen? Scott |
diff
theres no lube in my diff and when i spin the tires it seems the most friction is not in the bearings but somewhere in the diff areas the shafts and cvd's are all really free but i hear the gears meshing and i thought that's where the friction was coming from. especially since after re lubing the bearings and a careful rebuild i can only get a 2-3 secind spin! could it be the diff cases?
