heatsink - cyrul-style...

I see very few guys running heat sinks on their motors at our carpet track. I sold my FT stuff & made this one from the AE black cam & clamp.
|
I also got rid of mine last week. A friend offered to buy it for 5 dollars and I said ok, since I think it makes the motor hotter. Plus I'll be running my xray more now.
|
Yup, me too, $5 ea. for the blue clip-on heat sink, the big blue motor clamp heat sink, the blue battery strap, and the blue motor cam. Also sold a couple of the bigger blue clip on heat sinks. Most of them where bought by a young kid with a RTR TC3, you should have seen him, he was on cloud 9. I think he was happier than the day I let him go thru my sticker collection. Man, I didn't think you could get that many stickers on a sedan body!:)

Since the large ASC heatsink blocks one side of the holes on any motor can... i hollowed the center area of the sink. Now air is drawn through the sink...and across the fins to dissipate heat better. I only use it on extremely hot asphalt though... where the heat of the sun radiates off of the track and into the motor through the chassis. With the holes being covered up on one side... the hot air has nowhere to escape. But usually i just run the ASC large motor clamp... and gear reasonably.

I drilled holes in my heatsink, but the motor still got hot.

Howdy folks,
I'm in search of a FT TC3 mod (12x2) carpet setup based on the following: - Orion B tires (spec rubber tires) - front one way (the really fast guys run and swear by them, and I have no spool available) - rear tower at the front, updated front and rear A arms - Tight and technical track, fast laps are under 10s, fast sweeper, tons of 180's in the infield - Preferably with 0 deg castor blocks (it's a PITA to get AE parts here in switzerland and 0deg is all I have) Can anybody help? I asked a similar question a few weeks ago, but to no avail... TonyP's site doesn't have what I need... neither does AE's site... Plus I have a couple more questions... 1- Do the bump steer washers really have much influence on changin the handling? 2- Yesterday night I was trying a new setup and the (rear it seems) tires started shattering on hard acceleratin exiting corners... It seems the problem got cured by adding negative camber... Can anybody explain? 3- Why is there a rumour that people are switching back to the "old" front shock tower.... especially when I just switched to the rear shock tower up front :( Thanks for the info folks. Later Paul |
Lonestar,
Try to find one of the settings which were used on the DHI race. Orion B-compound tires tires were specs there also. There maybe some on www.rczone.net. Or go to http://home.swipnet.se/airwide/ tc3 corner > setups. look for DHI. good luck |
thanks...
PizzaDude... Thanks for the help...
Thanks! Paul PS: Samurais rule! I have an unassembled kit in my basement that I'm keeping for the day we move out of that flat and I can have my RC museum :D |
I don't know what it stands for.
But DHI is the importer/distributor in Danmark for Asso, Orion and more. And even JB is made by them. For the last 2 or 3 years they organise a big event very early in the year with all big names from Europe competing. CU Pizza |
About the Samurai.
It was my first kit. But having no money, and wanting to advance with newer kits I sold mine many, many years ago. I'm jalous off you man.... (unassembled and all...) Let me know how you fare... |
So has anyone tried the new Yokomo diaphragm shock caps for the TC3 yet? If so, does the car handle any differant?
|
Haven't tried it yet though... but from my experience with HPI diaphragm it gives quicker rebounds. :)
|
Well if I can ever get to speedtechrc, I'll order some to try out. One things for sure, no more 30 refills to get the same rebound.

Steup for Carpet Stock Racing
I am looking for different setups to try for stock sedan, rubber tires carpet. Medium size track, fairly good traction.
Thanks, Tony:) |
