I'm having to run 115% D/R (with EPA's at 100%R, 95%L) to get my desired amount of lock... does this sound right to you?

Regardless, have to say, feels so smooth to drive, and much lighter in the hands too, a BIG improvement

We came with this idea at the worlds 2010. We raised the bulkhead 0.5mm, this gave more traction for some reason, also the distance between lower and upperdeck was little more so easier to install the 25mm Lipo pack.
We didn't changed the rollcenter, we only lowered the upper camberlink shims by 0.5mm.

I always use max steering lock, some corners you need it.

Harder shock oil ? Softer spring ?

Exactly! Thicker oil and soft spring always helps to avoid overheating tyres.
And ofcourse try to find the right tyre additive, mostly used is thick additive when the tyre overheat, such as MR or Tyre Tweak kind.

Actually at the Worlds 1/12 I ran a 4.5T Orion motor.
I used 36mm roll out, with 3mm timing on motor.

I found most of the time I have more traction with zero rebound. Only on bumpy track or really high grip you can try rebound.

Not really, I always check when I have the car on the drop blocks, the swaybar should be level, (horizontal).

I tried to find my old KO radio to check it out, I found it but without battery.
For full lock, the steering blocks is 1mm away from the casterblock.

Thanks jilles for the reply!

But how do you make shocks with zero rebound?
Will you also be thinking of making a new tips video with Redrc?

No problem! Zero rebound you can make by pushing the shock rod/piston all the way up and close the shock cap, and even better drill a small hole in the shock cap.
Next month I will be heading home and probably gonna do the ETS race in Holland. At that race I will catch up with the Redrc guys and maybe we can do something similair again with some video.

Question for all racers on this thread, what would you like to see in the video?
What kind of stuff should I explain in the video about the 417 or something about motors, speedo, batteries, radio set-up or charging?
Let me know and I will work on something.

Thanks Jill for your help and answer all our questions.

In my opinion it would be nice to do a revison of the videos for the new 417. There are not many differences but I think we could really see the new car.
As for the motors and ESC would be great to comment on the new Orion motors/esc and new batteries.

Thanks again and greetings.

Hello Jilles, thanks for you suggest, today i tested with thick additive and mixes, with not bad results in old tyres.

I think, some explanation about diferents threatments of tyres are interesting, too.

See you in Holland, thanks.

Regards, Luis C.

I would like to see how you build your gear-diffs for the best result (and minimum leak?).

A detailed explanation of tire additive (when to use what, for how long and such).

It would also be nice to learn what to check for in the car, after each heat (bend blocks and such).

Hi Jilles,

When using same shock oil weight, do you completely empty the shock and add new oil or just top it off from time to time?

Have you tested the Hara rear wing (low height, but with the curved rear?) Do you like it?

Thanks in advance.

My vote is for interpretive dance

But seriously, it'd be great to see anything special you do with your motors, speedo and batteries

Thanks for your reply!

Perhaps how you set up your car like what you add to the shocks example how much o' rings it's effect and tyre choice addictives like tricks to improve set up etc.

Also is shock cap the rubber oil seal?perhaps a video for this can also help.

I would love to see setup advice, like how to tune your car for each race...roll center changes, shock angles, shock oil...etc. Also I would like to see how to set up your radio/steering.

Thanks for asking!

I would love to get information on driving, lines, styles (carpet vs asphalt) etc.

Also, how to practice properly to get better.
