Please take a look if you need something different than Larry's usual setup. This setup had a lot of corner speed and was very easy to race with. On the practice day after our Region Two regional this setup was only 0.1s off of Hebert and Haynes (it was all car, not me...)

Default Spec R geared diff in photon

Hi,

Im having issues with my spec r geared diff in the photon i build it up as instruction says and the geared diff doesnt last only lasted about 4 laps.

Are you suppose to slightly sand the gears first?

Any best practice and help would be great.

4 laps? What broke? What motor where u running? I've seen the diffs gears strip if it is too tight or too loose. Sanding the backside of the big gears silghtly should be done. Honestly there was nothing wrong with these diffs (that could of changed). I'd recommend u post up on the spec-r thread. Or just buy a Yokomo gear diff and call it a day. They just slap together with no leaking...

I had the pin the that goes into the out drive break when i was using Diff lock for a front diff. Are you running some supper heavy stuff in it?

Ah. I've seen that before. Try sourcing pins from somewhere else.

Hiya

Can you please update the sheet with the 2nd diff position, as well as the rear camber link position?

Do you have 2 #54 or 2 1.3mm holes drilled in your shock tops? If not do that and try again.

Just to follow up on The Goat's comments -- we haven't had much luck building shocks with zero rebound immediately after building them. The best method is to
1- put two holes in your shock cap
2- with the piston fully extended apply the bladder
3- work out any excess oil when seating the bladder. I use a 3mm wrench for this
4- screw on the drilled shock top

On the bench the new show will show 50% rebound. Run the shock in the car for a pack or two. If u take the shock out now you will see near zero rebound

Previously when build new shocks with zero rebound we would get a
Litttle air in the shock -- just enough to piss u off to want to rebuild shocks weakly. Now using the EJ "full extension" method you can easily go two - three (or more if you are lazy) and still have great working shocks ...
