The problem with the track I race at is the wood barriers are very close to the track, so if you get hit or spin out, you usually hit the wood hard. And I found the batteries love flying out and bounce across the ground with the tape. With the XRay brace and some foam on it, the batteries barely move.

For me, 1st reason is because tapping is too troublesome.
2nd reason, tapping won't save your battery from deformation when you encounter major crash, especially when you using some very soft battery bridge like LRP.
3rd reason, I don't wanna generate more trash for this poor planet..

And yet, he didn't use it and said it himself on the peak racing forum.

He said he tried it on saturday but didn't have time to sort it out and prefered to use his good old car instead. As for me, I'm not keen on it, looks like a bag of tweak to me.

Bag of tweak ?? Why ??
I think there could well be more flex but with usual Tamiya quality i am sure it fits together and runs perfectly straight. I think the car looks great.

I may be mistaken, but the X chassis is made up of a different carbon fiber material. It may have the same thickness and look similar but it is much more stiff. Also, there were two different upper deck options.

thats kinda what i was thinking, Rod.... also, with the longer rear bulkheads, it should make for a stiffer platform.

Spot on

Basically, the more parts in the strut's assembly, the more chances of the pieces moving one relatively to the other during a crash.

With the std MS the bulkheads are only joined together by graphite. Atleast this way you have locking Aluminium pieces and shock towers to hold everything tight. Plus now the flex of the top deck is equal on both sides due to the extended bulkhead on the battery side. In normal racing i cannot see a problem with tweak, but i can also appreciate that i a major whoooopsy finding the bent part might be difficult.
