Went back to ashby today... thought I'd do a bit more testing ahead of next weekend. Put 4 packs through the car, played with gearing, suspension and bodyshells.
I'm pretty much set for the nationals now.
I softened the springs one rate all round (Yellow on F, Fluro Red on R) the car, and put yellow roll bars on. seemed to have more grip, and was even more stable! could happily ride the crubs without the car stepping out, was just awesome.
If anything, had not quite enough initial turn-in, but i can play around with that next weekend, possibly by just changing back to CS22's.....

Fingers crossed for a good time next sunday..

I use Deans 2.0 with no problems. I run 3300's and 3700's with the same results. Both fit fine in my car.

Not a problem. I run my positive battery bar on the outside/rear of the car and the neg is on the outside/front of the car. All solder tabs are outter most part of the chassis. It will be hard to solder if you have the tabs in close to the belts.

If you have your tabs out it will be a breeze.

thanks, does the car come with 48 or 64 pitch gears?

415 comes with 64 pitch 102t spur

Hi Kreator,

Small correction...hehehe the 415 and other tamiya cars comes with 0.4 module gears. This module is similar to 64p but not identical. If you compare the tamiya spur and the other spurs from Yokomo/Xenon or kawada, the tamiya will be a bit bigger.

but since the Ta04 ive been using the 64 pitch pinion on the 0.4 tamiya spur.
I think they work fine with it.

Ok seeing as some of you guys are heading to the Ashby National i need alittle setup advice for a STD 415 running both one-ways in the stock class ? Dont think my order from speedtech will be here in time so the car will be left in standard spec.

Just got my car come through this morning that i brought on ebay and it all looks in very good condition , not even a scratch on the chassis as it was only raced indoors on carpet. Should help save on some built time for this weekend.

Try Blue springs on the front, with yellow roll bars, and yellow and yellow on the rear. Good place to start. Rest of the car as per instructions. (Although remove the spacers under the rear suspension blocks).
Shocks wise, 40 or 50wt oil with 2hole pistons (I'm personally using 40wt oil with 3 hole pistons).
Make sure you run a decent amount of droop thought, with a decent ride height (say 5.5 - 6mm)...bumpy track needs it.
If you get stuck during the day, come over and say Hi, I'll be happy to help, I'l be pitting with a few guys who are also running 415's (Scho and TRF415boy... although they don't know that yet... )

I just saw a picture of the Ashby track online, very impressive. I've always liked a setup like Tryhard has described for my Tamiya cars for Stock Racing. For Modified, I tend to find a more even setup across the car works better, so the front and rear are similiar. Just my views so far with them.
