Wing testing day! I couldn't find my Montech so I have the Tamiya J wing (very similar in size and shape, the Protoform and the Tamiya F60. I'm also going to straighten the stock wing and fill with the under side of the center section of the Associated wing with plastic epoxy once I have it straightened and the angle set.

Try the AE front wing, lot's of steering

My Front wing Opinion, see how yours compare:

by Most steering:
AE
TRG Wide, very close to AE
Montech
F60

I also Feel the TRG and AE have more stability than the montech, which feels twitchy on high speed sweeper entry, to me. F60 has similar stability

I'll have to try the 'J' wing

I really like the Associated wing so far. It's just the warping around the center after stuffing it under a pipe or two. It's not weak side to side and doesn't sag at all on the end plates. I'm hoping the heat gun and epoxy fill do the job. I will report back the results. I'll make sure to put in at least 5 minutes under the same conditions for each wing I try.

I'm a huge fan of the J wing. Durable as heck and sits a bit higher then other wings so you never have to worry about it dragging the track, or getting it wedged underneath a barrier.

The Associated wing when it stays in the correct position was my favorite. The F60 and Protoform wing are both very good and give excellent lap times. The J wing I couldn't fit unless I hacked up the body., so no test. I do believe the J and Montech wings are by far the strongest. The only issue with the Protoform and F60 wings is that they would suit the high nose bodies better. I'm going to try some CA hinge and Goop in the Associated wing. Epoxy did not stick. The best solution would to just have that part of the wing molded solid.

Ok guys, I just finished the 3racing fgx rear ball diff to 48p gears conversion, and it worked with a 60t 48p robinson diff gear(center drilled to 10mm), one 5x10x2.5mm bearing from rcbearings.co.uk , and a 27t 48p(5mm bore) pinion... It will be necessary to bring the diff bearing holders back towards the rear of the car one notch to get proper mesh, and the middle layshaft will need a little dremeling to seat the pinion grub screw properly... I did use ceramic 1/8" ball diffs with ofna diff lock lube to stop any possible slip...
Also, the internal fdr improved a little bit to 2.625 to 1....
Hopefully the car will be quiet now....lol....

The fgx has a very poor ball/roller diff parts availability, so I was compelled to find my way around that problem... Cheers....

I miss mine, even though I broke an A arm every time I put it on track. Once without a battery in it

Sorry to hear buddy..... That's the main reason why I don't sell any of my cars: I will upgrade and race them for life.... I hope this upgrade bears fruit. The roller ball diff gets alot of flatspotting when it slips. Ceramic balls prevent that very well and keep the ball diff smooth longer.... I am hoping to finally catch the DD cars with it, eventhough I am still very overweight at 1150grams(with 6100mah shorty)... The super shorty(2600mah) was great to get the car down to the 1070's but suffered from drastic voltage drop at the end of the runs...

Hey guys, anyone know if anyone makes a high nose Late 90s style front wing? I bought the TRG one but it's very high off the ground and looks very wrong for the time period car I'm building (96 Williams).

I've not been able to find a real Williams wing set so I'm just trying to find as close to period correct that I can.

Tamiya has at least 2 for 90s cars and its for the You have the F type bodyset which is 98-99 Ferrari and the M type which is is the West McLaren bodyset. Those are the ones I know for sure about.
