My local track just installed the new CRC FT2 carpet and the first club race on it 1st and 2nd were t-bar Tamiyas. F104X1 1st and F104Pro 2nd. Ahead of Xrays and Exoteks. The F104Pro was mine and I really like how it feels on the new carpet.
At the Cleveland Indoor Classic, I understand that a F104WGP t-bar car took 2nd place in the A-main.
Hope this helps,
Mark

Winner of the Indoor Champs was Brian Wynn running a CRC with a prototype chassis. And second was Jack Kloeber, driving an Xray. Third was Jimmy Piersol driving another CRC with a prototype chassis. Not sure what car Sweeny was running in 4th, but 5th and 6th were also Xray.
Edit: I just checked the results and Mike finished 7th in the A-main. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyone try the Sweep pre-mounted F1 tires on med to high grip carpet? If so, how did they do? Better or worse then the Tamiya/Pit tires?

What are the good f1 kits? Most reliable ? Most parts available

Most reliable, XRay. There are a lot of really good kits out now, but the most availability of parts really is determined by what runs where you race. If you want opinion, you can't go wrong with the Xray or CRC, especially the new chassis conversion coming out for the crc makes it a lot better for forward grip.

Hope the CRC conversion also comes as a kit...
Trying to figure out if the 25.5t 200mm rules will make me wait another year just to see what companies come up with and just run other classes until then or bite the bullet and just buy that crc I've been eye balling...

Well, you could buy used and get a conversion for it. Have both chassis sets that way. I also may know someone selling a wtf-1 original chassis roller in really good condition. :-)

If you are planning on running in the SF bay area/Northern California area, I would not hold your breath as far as 25.5 goes. You are missing out on one of the biggest classes locally waiting. Nobody is keen on the 25.5 rules at any of the local tracks F1 runs at in the Bay. And you will be on your own going with the CRC. Good car on carpet but on asphalt you may need to get creative. You will be hard pressed to beat the XRAY locally because of sheer numbers and It's that good. Hope you can get something together soon.

Thanks racenut. I keep eye-balling the x1 but I've never really been keen on running what everyone else does (I run a serpent TC and local support seems sparce) unless you're telling me that the x1 IS that much better than everything else out there. At my level of racing, consistency seems paramount and spending time behind the wheel and trying new setups is what makes the hobby enjoyable and challenging.
Now back to my question: IS the x1 hands down asphalt king?

The X1 is hard to beat locally because all the faster guys run them. It's really good on both carpet and Asphalt. Low to high grip the car just plain works. Can any other car win? Of course, in the right hands. The CRC ,Exotec,Tamiya,VBC etc have all been proven cars. But as others have mentioned, having help from locals as far as setup goes, does go a long way. I was one of the first Xray adopters and soon after many started running them. I never owned any other f1 car,but the results were positive. I copied Jan's setup from snowbirds and it was dialed.Others bought the car and had the exact same experience.

Finished my new Exotek f1r3 kit with IFS, I'm impressed with the quality (first exotek kit), not that impressed with my painting skills, but the paintlab decals make up for it :-)

I ran them on the new CRC FT2 carpet at my local track in King, NC. I used the soft rear/soft front combo on my F1R2 w/ IFS. The car was very neutral on the setup, and although the overall grip didn't seem to be as high as the Pit Shimizu 571/572 combo I tried, the lap times were identical. The Sweeps had less tendency to traction roll than the Pits, so I was able to drive the car harder.
