I ran a TB-01 with stock everything(rules only allow changing of shocks). I ran 80wt, stock springs, ride height level at a "rally stance"(I honestly didnt measure it), and -2 camber all around. I could post some pics for sure when I get back from tennis practice...if its ok to post tb-01 stuff in this tb-02 forum

LOL, I kinda meant rally setup for the TB02.

I had a TB01 many years ago, it was so much fun at the offroad track...that thing could take a BEATING!

Default TB02 or TA05

I am at a dilemma between choosing a TB02 and a TA05. Towerhobbies lists the two chasses as being of the same price range and I'm aware that the former uses shaft while the latter uses belts. Which chassis should I choose given these conditions:

1. I need a chassis that already has ball bearings on all prescribed areas and adjustable front and rear arms.
2. I drive on tarmacadam or asphalt with a few stones littered along the way.
3. I am looking for a chassis that can be as durable as my TT01.

Thanks. Please feel free to add your inputs.

Both the TA-05 and TB-02 are very durable cars considering they use the same suspension. Since you are running on asphault I would recommend you buy the TB-02 because it is shaft drive and if you have a TA-05 you could get rocks in the belts and easily ruin the car. The TB-02 drivetrain is way more efficient for the surface your running on. If you were running indoor on carpet or even outside on smooth asphault then I would say get the TA-05.

If you go on www.tamiyausa.com there is a TB-02 with Mercedes-Benz body thats discounted at only $119. This is because the body is an older style.

I would go with the TB-02!

I haven't found time to post pics of it...so I guess its a good thing you didn't mean TB01. My guess for a TB02 setup would be 80wt, one hole pistons, no droop screws, and ride height at a nice, level "rally" height.

The TA-05 is a much better car for the money, and is also a better race car. BUT, if you are outside with pebbles...an awesome belt drive car will be useless if one little pebble gets in the pullies or between the spur gear and pinion gear. If you want to take the risk, the TA-05 is a better car...but the TB-02 would be more durable drivetrain wise.

Considering that the cost of buying both a TA05 and a TB02 would be less than a single TC5 or JRXSr or Xray I would get both and then decide for myself which was better.

Keep the one that works the best and sell the other one for almost what you paid for it!

Default Diff outdrives

What's up all,
New owner here and I was wondering is there a hop-up for the stock plastic outdrives on the TB02? I've see the ones for the EVOIII, I was wondering if they were a fit. Got an 11 year old just started racing and he's been hell on those plastics

Thanks All,
Kevin

See, now that's what I was curious about. What does "rally" height mean? 8mm? Should I replace the normal shock ends with the longer ones that the TB01 uses? I was thinking of running with the 1/10 buggy class for fun.

I manual for the TB-01 tells you to use the normal shock ends up all around. The shocks are just longer in the back. My ride height is around 10-15mm. If you actually have to jump or roll jumps, being lower will have you digging into the clay/dirt.

heyas,

just wondering a few things bout the diff screws on the o2......i havent blown a screw in a while now, but since drift puts a load of stress on the screw, itll blow sooner of later.....anyways....on my ta05 i noticed that the spring goes on the other side of the diff...so it goes

screw/bearing/outdrive/ring gear/outdrive/spring/locknut holder/lock nut

whilst on the tb02 it goes

screw/bearing/spring/outdrive/ring gear/outdrive/locknut...

if i was able 2 sum how get a ta05 outdrive 2 fit on the tb02 would it solve the tb02 diff problem...i have also noticed that u cant 'lock' a ta05 diff with just tightening the screw!!, why?? is it coz the bearing jsut allows the screw to turn, thus not allowing a 'lockd' state??

cheers

wog

Default Brushless TB02R

I dusted off my TB02R to use in the Vintage Trans AM series races we have been running and wanted to share my findings for using a 17.5 brushless:

I have the Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount, and found that a 76 tooth spur with a 53 tooth pinion (3.72 FDR) provides a good gear mesh.

Was great to bring the car out of retirement, and have it be competitive again.

Stupid question. But does everything on an EVO III fit on the TB-02 chassis? I was thinking of getting a TB-02 to drift with. If I can use all the EVO parts then no hop ups are needed.
