I just bought a TB-02 tonight and had a question or two. I'm going to race TCS with this car. All the EVO3 hopups are usable on the car except the motor mount? Did anyone ever get a Tamiya rulling on using those TA04SS arms yet? And can I use the EVO Surikan Graphite ShockTowers on my car and still be TCS legal?

I should have my car built by tommorrow night. I'm racing it next weekend at our TCS race.

I would assume that the carbon shock towers will be legal.
As for the parts that don't transfer, the motor mount and the steering bell cranks, don't fit on the tub.
As for the arms, I would again assume that they should be legal, but I would want to start that discussion back up Remember, you can almost get the wheelbase like a TA04 SS with out short arms.

Thanks. I did just read the rules and everything for the EVO3 is legal to put on the TB-02 but the Motor mount and the top and bottom graphite plates.

I have over half my car built now and it is pretty nice and highly upadeable like most Tamiya cars.

Well I ran my new TB-02 in our TCS race over the weekend. Man the car was on rails all day long. I TQ'ed GT2 with a time that was almost 4 seconds faster than the GT1 guys. I ended up getting taken out in the first corner by the 2nd qualifier (his only chance to win) as he was a lap off my pace. Well his hack didin't work as I ran him down from last place to pass him on the last lap. I was 2 to 3 tenths faster than everyone all day. Car is just what I was looking for.

I talked with Gary at Tamiya during the race and I said is Tamiya going to make a graphite Tub like they have for the 04 and he smiled and said he thought they might be in the near future.

Anyone find a 64 pitch gear setup that works on the TB-02 that will give you the same gearing as lets say the stock setup of 19/58. That is the gearing I ran all day and it was a rocket.

Default TCS

I never ran on the TCS before. race just on Open Stock Race.
Only a few ran tamiya over here.

Tell me whats the different between GT2 and GT1?
Do they have speed limit?
or control ratio on certain heats.

GT2 is any Tamiya car, any Tamiya hopup but the car must have a plastic type tub chassis (TA04, TB-02, TLO1, TA03 etc) and runs ROAR approved stock motors.

GT1 is any Tamiya car, and Tamiya hopup, and can be any type of Tamiya chassis, graphite plate or tub type chassis and runs ROAR approved 19 Turn spec motors.

All run Tamiya rubber tires and Tamiya bodies.

GT3 is the same as GT2 except you run the stock silver can Tamiya type motors.

Congrats with this fine run. My car is also planted but needs to garner some speed. What stock motor did you use with that gear ratio? Did you use a one way?

Thanks

I ran the stock 58 spur from the kit along with the stock 19 tooth pinion. My rollout was 24.93mm with 63mm Tamiya Type A's on. Our track it a little tight so this gearing works well even on my TC3 as far as running a 25mm or so rollout. When I go outside to a larger track I will go to a 20 or max a 21 tooth with the 58 spur on unless I can find and get a 64 pitch gear setup to mesh properly (I didn't try yet). I did not use a one one as again our track is pretty tight. I will however try one once I go outside to run at the track that our next TCS race will be held in the late July or something like that. I know it is hot out.

Stock motor wise I used the Trinity based monster can but the setup that came on it from Lightspeed motors from Arlington Texas. I think his website is lightspeedrc.com. Just tell him Brian Reigle sent you. HE has nice stuff. Been running his stuff since like 1990 or so.
