TB03/Tamiya Guru question:

In the process of putting one together for the summer.

Would you recommend Carbon Reinforced suspension and chassis? whats would be the difference?

Also was thinking of converting my suspension to 418 suspension...

Can you drop in a tb04 gear diff on the rear of a tb03 without modifications??

thank you

- Jacob

The chassis is personal preference. I think I like the standard one better. Otherwise I always use only carbon rein parts.

My TB03 has 418 suspension and a gear diff from a TB04.

I know that TB03 is old chassis but I still love my old one After few years in box, I rebuilt it with some modifications for new rally season..

As original TB-03 is little too tail heavy, I used new chassis made of G10 with shorty lipo to bring some weight to front..Now it's 50:50 with around 50g more on front I also offset motor to the right for better ballance and narrower chassis. Another mods are:

-diff gears from TRF502X. Combined with 2,5mm screw and thrust bearing, it gives super smooth diff, compared to original
- steering - using XV01 arms, it allows better steering geometry with larger steering lock
-front axle from XV-01 - it works better with modified steering
-ofcourse, long CVA dampers and front CVDs

this is prototype, it still need some mods for future version:
-different motor mount to fit larger spur gear
- moving rear axle to the front for my new 251mm Porsche 911RSR body
-some better steering, but I stil can't think of something better than this
- new shock towers
- gear diff to the rear

What do you think?

Rebuilding my TB03 right now for the new season. Bought several TB04 parts for my "03". Geardiff, carbon damper stays and full 418 suspension. Cant wait to drive it again..last season runner up in our 17.5 TC clubrace. So for the new season... I want to race the "03"inthe new configuration our 13.5 class. Any suggestions for gearing??

hey guys, just got a tb03 and coverted the front shocks to be vertical instead of ifs design. car runs really good with 17.5 brushless in blinky mode. question i have is how do you get rid of the front chatter since im running spool? it chatters a lot espclly on the right front wheel. i have ball diffs in rear rt now but will convert to tb04 gear diffs per your advice here on the forum. i plan on running on tcs so i dont want to use any of the spec-r parts. thanks for your help! good day!

Where did you get the servo mounts? If you made them. Could you make me 2-3 more? And how much shipped to california?

How do you get a TB04 diff not to rub the pinion gear? I wanted to use a TB04 gear diff but it didn't spin freely.

Thumbs up

It looks great! I've got a TB-03 that I'd like to do something similar with.
Do you have any sketches or pics of the custom chassis parts you made?

Looking for setup settings for VTA?

USVTA rules, running on indoor carpet track.

I am getting close, thought I'd see what others are running to compare.
