There was nobody running 1/12 stock at the Reedy. There was some F1 cars running this last weekend at the Speedworld cup that I setup. They were running 17.5's timed with 10 on the motor and 20 on the timing boost and were little rockets!

So with an Novak I'd like to see timing boost around 15-25 depending on class.

I saw guys using Tekin RS/Novak 17.5 at the recent onroad race on the same track as the Reedy Race of Champions(Speedworld Raceway) and they were FDR'd around 3.8-4.1ish running 25 on the timing boost.

Now those that were running 199 were setup more like 15-20 on timing boost, full turbo(20) and a delay around .6 seconds with FDR's around 4.3-4.4ish. Of course they had a clear advantage.

Track was really hot, track temps were as high as 155 at one point. Ambient was 105. I pulled off in 17.5 around 190 with no fans/heatsinks. Others that used clip ons were pulling off 175 or so.

im running 21.5 novak and i was running 15 boost is that too much? should i back off to 10 or even 5 boost?

is novak the only company that has this "early read?"

I'm running a Tekin 17.5 with the 198 software, 0 motor timing and 30 boost. My FDR was at 4.5. There was another racer running a tekin 17.5 as well and it seemed like he had a lot more infield punch and our straight line speeds were pretty similar. I never had the chance to talk to him about his setup.

I was wondering if I went 12 on the motor and 18 boost if that would give me more of a infield punch? This is on a outdoor asphalt parking lot race with a straight of about 120 ft.

Default timing boost

Just wondering if i got a glitch on my hotwire software? Is the timing boost suppose to go all the way up to 45 (max)? It says ver. 198 and i've removed the hidden file and unistalled then reinstalled the latest software ver. 3.25. Just wanna try a different setup (17.5 motor timing 10 w/ boost set at 20) I'm running windows vista ultimate ver. 6 by the way.
Thanks
Ryan

Try 10 on the motor and 15 boost and drop the rollout to around 48mm see if that helps dude.

We also have a range of sensor wires, here:

http://www.teamtekin.com/parts-list/

hope that helps

We include the longer wire as it will cover all applications, even if it is a little too long for some.

Check out TQ Wire, it's in my Sig. It's very flexible and comes in different lengths.

I just bought a tekin rs to replace my novak gtb that burned up on me again, I am not impressed so far and i have the hot wire program but I dont know what you guys mean with the boost I dont see anything about that on the screen. When I punch it from a stop it hesitates for a second then goes I still have the novak 17.5 motor in it. when I had the gtb it would roast the tires on take off not now. any suggestions on what I need or need to do?

I'll be frank, I can't be bothered to search through 340 pages so here goes;

I have the Tekin RS ESC but not the hotwire software/link.

Are only certain throttle profiles equipped with the timing boost or do I require the hotwire stuff to set this?
The manual sheet that comes with the ESC is in my opinion....crap.

Thanks

If you'll be at the asphalt assult on Saturday @ Harbor, stop by and see me for some setup tips. I ran my 17.5 car last Saturday out there last weekend to prep for the race and had no issues hanging with the LRP powered cars (though having BOOST sure would help if it were available).

You need the hotwire so you can upgrade to atleast 189 so that you will have the boost option. You have to be able to select sensored only mode wich you have to have the hotwire for that.

Hello everyone ;

I'm considering buying a used Rs pro from a guy who started recently but wants to stop after only a few months.

It will come with the hotwire.

My questions are the following :

1) about the braking issue. I might run mod on a very large track. Some say the brakes are on the weak side, some say it's fine. So I'm lost here. Is that a Hardware issue or something that can be solved by updating the software ? If that is a Hardware issue, I will buy the ESC new just to be sure, and if it's software-related, I'll buy the used one knowing it can be fixed with the update #200.

2) The reason why I buy this ESC is the performance and the internet updating-thing, that is just the most brilliant idea and your success is well deserved. But as a non-english-speaker and not-yet-Tekin-ESC-owner I sometimes find it a bit hard to understand. Especially the timing/boost features, it gets complex and I honestly don't find myself stupid, I try really hard to understand, and I'm not exactly a newcomer to BL. So what I mean is : since the Tekin drivers themselves say they learn all the time from program update to another, it would be nice to have a "official tekin voice " telling us every month or so , what is the latest and most recent piece of information (according to the latest public update) they have gathered among their drivers, so that the user can know in which direction to go. For instance if I buy a RS tomorrow and use update 198, I'll start to figure out how it works just when #200 comes out, and I'll have to start all over again. I'm tempted to buy the speedo and just run it without any fancy feature, exploiting 80% of its potential, until I'm sure i have a solid program to start to explore with. For example I see comments about tuning the ESC/motor with the update #199 while only the 198 is available and I'm told the 200 comes soon... it makes me feel a bit lost, I have to say.

I hope my english is understandable ! thanx in advance. I'll be back on this thread very soon and very regularly, believe me .
