I would bet that it's the best T/A due to the spec tire & lack of grip. The long suspension arms and all hook it right back up. My 416 didnt like those vintage rubbers as well as the E4. It's got the right stuff .. Lets just say like that . Nice and simple like . :batman:

I keep 2 spare tubs, 2 front subs and 2 rear subs on hand all the time. It has not warped or tweaked to date. I have broken a rear sub chassis and a front with a head on and not tweaked the tub. My son has torn both ends off the car twice and broken the ESC protector on the side of the tub, but tub is still intact and has not tweaked. I have not replaced a tub. I do and have wished for stronger front and rear sub chassis as they get damaged more from a heavy side impact than front or rear heavy impact. My son drives his like a Traxxas Slash and it holds up great. I should take a film. He makes his car look like something out of the Dukes of Hazard going airborne all the time.

4/2.0588=1.943
147/1.943=75.6, But we need a hole number there so if you have a 75 tooth use that one.
75/1.943=38.6... ok 39
39+75=114
Ok so we need a small spur gear , But thats not going to reach with that gear combo. Let's try about 25% more.
93/1.943=47.8 ok call it 48
93+48=141 .... not quite enough teeth just yet. Only need a few more to mesh. I dont like running repeating grear ratios like 2.0 as its wears out the gears faster so ... lets try this one more time with a 99 tooth.
99/1.943=~51
99+51=150 Awesome and 2 teeth to spare on the pinion. We can always fine tune it with the spur gear too. But there you go
99 spur /51 pinion = 1.9412
1.9412 * 2.0588 = 3.996 I' call that a 4.0 final....

99/53 is a 3.85 so If you buy a 99 spur get 51, 52, 53 pinion.
Remember try to keep the total amount of teeth between 145 and 152! :tire:

What's with all the math, I can figure FDR just fine. I wanted to know what FDR others were running at the birds to get an idea.
But thanks anyway.

Hi guys, I just got an E4 RTR to get into electric racing and i must say, this car out of the box handles and drive like a dream , very impressive.

I have been racing Nitro for three years with the G4 family of cars and am now trying my hand an electric racing.

I have put a novak 10.5 brushless system in car am am trying various spur pinion combinations to find that sweet spot, currentlt running 110spur 40 pinion.

What Spur/Pinion combination you guys think would work best on this car.

Gearing depends on a lot of factors, track size, ESC profile, motor brand, driving style etc... 110/40 is a good starting point. Check lap times, feel/speed, and motor temps above all.

sorry i looked on the snowbird site but how did the e4 do? was the car that ran this year at the sb the same car that was on rctvlive.com? i heard the car they ran this year is another version? how many places sell e4 parts? thanks

Thanks for your suggestion will start here and work my way down.

The E4 did really good most were driving the RS and FS there was 4 cars that made the A main:
17.5 Rubber
Trans Am
Mod Rubber
Mod Foam
2 cars made the B main
17.5 Foam
Mod Foam
4 cars made the C main
17.5 Rubber
17.5 Foam 2 cars
13.5 Foam
and 1 car won the D main in 13.5 foam

as far as the ability of parts wolfhobbies.com carries a full line of Team Magic parts

WEEZY 02-12-2009 06:27 PM

Good how about yourself. You been racing since Birds? I'll be at Dave's home track (timezone) this weekend for a 2 day race it should be on liverc if you want to check it out.

Nice job Weezy!

Part number for RS 009

Hello guys,

I broke the bumper post last time I ran my RS 009 and when I order the part "503145 Bumper Post Set", It is not the same part that came with the car and it doesn't quite fit properly. Does anyone know what the proper parts number for the RS 009 ?

Thx,
Eddie.

AreCee 02-13-2009 03:39 PM

I take back what I said about the E4 shocks being OK to build. I had the cap strip off on and thought it was only the cap but the threads on the shock body are stripped also. Not cross threaded but stripped.

I ordered new caps and built the shock but the cap just spun without engaging the threads.

Time for some nice Tamiya or TC5 shocks.

Guys,

I hope it's OK to post a for sale item here. If not apologies.

I have a brand new, unassembled E4 kit (the original version with the most aluminum parts, what Wolf Hobbies calls the 'limited edition').

I purchased the kit approx 5 weeks ago but am running in a 540 novice class and have decided to stick to 540 novice for a while to hone my skills (the E4 isn't permitted in novice). I have opened the box only but not assembled a thing, so it's absolutely brand new. I also purchased 2 new pairs of rear suspension arms which I am throwing in with the kit.

The car is located in Australia but I will include free shipping via airmail with insurance. Payment will be via paypal so it's secure.

All up, for the original E4 kit with an additional 2 pairs of rear arms, plus insured airmail shipping I am asking $390 US firm. This kit sells for $400 with no shipping and no additional spares, so this is a killer deal.

The first person to respond to this add get's it, so don't miss out. As I don't log into this forum often, please email me at: [email protected]

Thanks for looking and apologies again if I'm not supposed to post a for sale add here.

Steve

Whoa there man! Dont use the associated shocks , Their worse than most of them. The New Tamiya High Lubricity (hard annodized) shocks are as good or better than any available. As for the TM shocks ,,, Sounds like you just got a hold of a bad part.

Hmmm.... Three out of four bad shock caps are not the odds I prefer.

Have you seen or set up the new AE shocks? They are awesome and I would rank them up there with the best. (New design, no longer emulsion type and they use a bladder too.)

I installed a set of spare Tamiya TRF shocks and the TM springs fit just fine. We'll see how it works tomorrow. So far the suspension seems to be a bit freer than with the older TM shocks.

katfish317 02-14-2009 10:04 AM

I personally had a TC5 and I can tell you that the new shocks are terrible, they leak and you must check them often. I have an E4 for racing this year and I would have to say the the E4 shocks blow those out of the water. I have not had to do anything to mine since I put them togehter months ago, unless I am changing the oil. They have kept the set rebound very very well and have not had any leaks at all.

Are speaking of the new model E4 shocks as on the E4RS/FS or the older version. I have the older version and they built up nicely at first but it seems that the alloy is soft and the threads wore to the point where the caps are popping off. No, they weren't cross threaded it just seems as if they wore out. (You can see the patina of Al on the shock body threads.)

katfish317 02-14-2009 07:45 PM

I have the E4RS, they are great!! I may buy some to use on my TC5 for Foam, they are that good.

Aha! I have the older version. They were nice when new but not so good now. The alloy is a bit too soft and the threads are a bit too fine. After a couple rebuilds they're not staying together.

What pisotns will work in the E4, I have seen where the Losi pistons were used, has anyone ever tried the Rpm two stage pistons in on road???
Are they worth messing with, I used them in off road and like them there just curious.

Hmmm.. not I think a good idea. Whats wrong with the stock pistons ?

WEEZY 02-15-2009 06:36 PM

Yea i have been racing getting ready for the cactus classic in march gonna try some onroad. My rubber car is so bomb out here. If you guys are looking for a rubber setup with a oneway use daves setup on the wolf hobbies website. I run spool in my rubber car so i guess it deopends on if you use brakes or not. The shocks that i had on the original e4 didnt seem right with the shock caps. The new ones in the rs and fs are good i have had 0 problems. See y'all later

Just curios if they make any others for the E4RS with larger or smaller holes to change it up on different tracks that is all.
