Default Top Speed of E4

Dear Socko, AreCee, rezenclowd3 and BritishMenace

RE: <<I am new to the E4 and I can not get the required top speed out of this car.>>

The car was the best at our old technical track but seems to slow on our new fast flowing track.

Anyway, I will join the rest of my family running a Mi3 for the time being.

Anyone in AUS interested giving my E4 a new home?

Regards, Rambolin

Not sure what you mean by "required top speed" but the E4 is as fast as anything else out there with the proper gearing, motor and battery.

Just gear it for the speed you want and as long as the motor doesn't melt (too hot) then you should be in the ball park unless your gearing is way off (undergeared).

Default E4 Speed

Maybe I am doing something wrong - I geared it up and up to the point where lap times would come down again. I am running 17.5. Was using a Mi3 this Sunday and did win all qualifiers and races. E4 loses 1 sec per lap. I do not understand this. I do run the standard belts however but are hesitating to put more money in...

There are alot of factors on this also, consistent lap times and trying to hit the same line everytime. Try soaking the belts in WD40 overnight to help loosen them up I did this and it helped alot. I practically run my side belt as loose as I can . I am runnning this car right now box stock with the factory setup and love it alot, biggest issue I have had is finding proper gearing for my 17.5 motor and the way that I drive I am going to start at 4.0 FDR.

Are you sure the actually speed is slower? Maybe you are just running better times with your Mi3 because you are more familiar with the car, better setup etc…

Rambolin,

Don't be afraid to run the belts really loose. You'll know they're too loose if they skip under braking. I took my side belt tensioner off completely. The side belt is fine without it.

i run the belt tensioner and its quite snug .. but the 17.5 is another issue.
remember the car comes with what i would call an ashphault set up.. pretty soft. try stiffer springs.

Default E4 Top Speed

Thanks to all.

The car is the best in the corners and only lacks top speed. I will try the WD40 method for the belts.

I might give it a go in 10.5

The top one is our new track - very fast. For comparison, the one below is the old one and the lap times are very similar. The images are exactly the same scale!

Thinking about making the E4RS 2009 my next touring car. What spares or "hopups" are people running? Is it possible to get a E4RS and convert it to the 2009 version?

Rambolin,

I race an E4 up here in QLD and although I have only used it once in a competitive arena, I found the car just fine for pace. I must mention that I geared the car a little lower than most of the others as I found a little lack of pace coming out of the corners, but other than that the car is great. I was geared around 56mm rollout where as my competitors were all around 58mm rollout, this is in 17.5 stock. I placed 3rd at the Winter Cup and had not raced for over 5 months prior and that was with a different car, so for a 1st time outing I can only praise this car.

I haven't had a car corner so fast as this before and I found once your used to how fast you can turn in, the lag out of the corner is minimal as you make up your ground in the first 2 sections of the corner.

I plan on running this car next year for 09 and am positive about it's ability. I was looking to change chassis due to poor parts and support in SEQ, but the distributor assure's me this is not a concern, so at this point it looks good.

Cheers
Aaron

Default New belts on the RS'09 version

Hi,

I am running an E4RS in the UK, parts are getting pretty scarce here and although I have previously successfully ordered items from RC shopping, they denied my last order as they could not ship to the UK! I believe this is why Demon in the UK will not restock as it is too much hasstle.
Wolf Hobbies are now my best bet I guess, any other suggestions of retailers carrying RS parts?
RC Mushroom have a few but not very comprehensive, but I did find this

http://rc-mushroom.com/product_info....ducts_id=14615

It says that here is a change of belt material to PU? I would like to get my hands on some to try as soon as they are stocked.
