Tamiya mini cooper
Martin,
The weight is added to the front bumper, not the rear. I had a look at Bruces car at the Masters and with the Ride body the car was super dialled on the track. He sure gave out a hiding to us other drivers.
I will be trying some of these setup ideas on my MO5M and see if it makes the car better. The old adage nothing ventured nothing gained.
My MO5L from the Masters weighs in at 1465gms, so was is a little portly as well. I also used different front tyres to all the others, which makes the car a little harder to drive, however I will be trying softer springs up front and the rides to see how it handles.
Later,
Calvin.

You guys are throwing a lot of weights out there, what's the average Mini weight fully dressed? I think when I go to practice tomorrow I'm going to see if on the the local pros can weigh my car for me so I can brag too

I think the weight issue is a bigger problem with the MO3 than with the MO5.
I know that some will argue that a mini will work at 1330gms legal weight here in Australia,(unless rules have changed) and that it comes back to setup. I have seen mini's work well running at minimum weight and others that were impossible to drive. All comes back to smoothness and setup.
I have tried a light weight mini, however did not work for my driving style. At some tracks a light weight mini will not work due to having to much grip etc.
I wouldn't get excited about how runs what weight. It was just mentioned that a heavy mini can work as well as a lighter car, however there are pro's and cons with both setups.
Me, I will just run what works for me. Trying other setups just assists with getting a better handling mini for your driving style.
Good luck and Happy Racing.
