I couldn't run my stock motor at the last big mini race I was at! I had to buy a motor at the track to be able to race.

Oh, if only this forum had a smily beating a dead horse.

Motor

I like the idea of the stock silver can but as we all know there is alot of varriance between 2 motors. Why cant Big T Just make a tuned motor where they are all the same like batteries matched cells?

One thing to consider before changing thing is that Mini is probably the biggest class in the TCS under the current rules.

A new guy can buy a kit with a silver motor and jump in and be racing a car just like all the other minis?
C'mon, the only thing that's the same on a kit car with a silver motor is the color of the motor.
Now if there is a beginner mini class and sportsman/expert class that would be the case.

How many are new mini racers?

How many would like to be running faster cars IF there was a legal Tamiya class?
Because when we are there practicing, all of the cars are much faster than stock and it's not only because of their dialed handling/tire packages.

My favorite thing to say on the stand when practicing minis is:
"No fair passing on the straight"!:lol:

Probably cuz mine is as slow as a stocker.

Best mini mantra ever. :lol::lol:

Good ol Granpa always gives me a break on the straights, he waits to pass me on the infield fair and square.
Well, fair as in equal cars, no. I'm so far behind the curve it's not even funny.
Fair as in clean, always. ;)

Scooby, you can't let Kev get under your skin. So you guys don't agree, it's not a big deal. Just let it go and get back to having fun. Seriously dood, stop talking about quitting mini. Quitting will just make Kev think he's won. ;)

K-bo, I'll explain at NJMP!

It's great to have a CHEAP class to start. And you have to remember--most of the guys chiming in here aren't racing mini's anyway!!:D

I raced mini several times this winter and it was great fun. Everyone ran silver cans. One guy put in a 17.5 and he still couldn't win. He was fast but didn't drive consistently well.

You could attend the Memphis TCS race on 6 June and learn all about Minis.

you actually both a 'legal' TCS motor...for whatever reasons, Tamiya doesn't incude the TCS-speced johnson motor in the kit - and those NYC guys know their motors :lo:

so that's why you needed to get another motor - plus its you, and you know how that works
