The reason to tightened the diff in these car as much as you can is to get the car to pull out of corners. When the front inside wheel lifts in a corner all the power is sent to the wheel with no traction. All you hear the whiz sound as the car doesn't really go. The problem with getting to like a spool is off power you lose alot of steering. If you can take a driving line that keeps the car flatter it will keep both wheels more in contact with the ground.

Those are exactly what I was looking for. I don't suppose anyone has seen them available from a U.S. source have they?

Thanks to everyone for the good info in answering my question. I never thought about the O-rings holding the diff cups into the diff. Makes good sense though. I'll try the fuel tubing trick.

NOOB QUESTION ALERT: Mini with BL?
 

hey mini guys.. how well does the mini cooper hold up with a 21.5BL system installed? the normal BL esc, not the UBER fast tekin v203/LRP SXX stock spec speedos...

speedwise.. is it comparable to a good silver can, etc?

I don't have experience with these both installed in a Mini. However, I do have experence with both of them installed in a TA-05 and the 21.5 is considerably faster. If you use LiPo batteries, the difference is even more drastic. I don't think you would hurt your mini with one of these motors, but don't expect your buddies running silver cans to be able to hang with you.

In the mini, I have experience with the silver can and a middle of the road 27t brushed motor. The silver can is a bit slower than the 27t.

Yes and no. It will work with no maintenance almost forever, but will loosen up very quickly. I favor the gear diff on certain tracks, but have to spend more time keeping the right amount off "drag" in the diff action. A ball diff will stay "adjusted" much longer.

I guess it is really about how particular you are in your car set ups. Possesing only moderate driving ability, I'm very attentive to this sort of stuff to make up for the deficiencies in driving ability.

Talk to Craig Richter. He's got more experience than anyone else at Aliso.

I agree with Grandpa. The gear diff just lossens up too quickly under racing conditions and you wind up giving up too much corner speed. I prefer a tighter diff for this reason...a smooth, flowing diff in a FWD car doesn't work well...for me anyway. As noted, the ball diff will hold its setting better.

My TA03 ball diff and AW Grease showed up yesterday and today! No more diffing from my car!!:nod::nod: Finally, some drive out of the corners. It's a shame that I had to order the diff from Utah and the AW Grease from Florida. Everyone local, including Tamiya USA, was out of stock. Time to get to work on my cars improvements!

Has anyone made a list of bodies that fits on a m-chassis car?

I have tried to make a list of bodies that fit the M and L versions (because I have an M04-L myself), but I know that it isn't complete (I only have Tamiya and HPI bodies for one).

So does a more complete list exist somewhere?

hi all i'm having a bit of a problem with my m03 i'm hoping someone can help?

Two weeks ago my m03 was planted i could nearly go flat out round the corners and it would go flat out down the straight and would go straight as a dart i was well happy with it, now its still great round the corners but as soon as a i put the power down the car goes to the left. i've looked all over the car and find nothing wrong.
i'm running 17.5Bl with a Ta03 ball diff,any help would be great
