1150, 11x5mm

Well after about 8 hours of running the M05 today I can say it's a solid .2-.3 faster than my M03R at its best. I was able with 1 or 2 tire swaps to immediately have the car ahead of my M03Rs pace. I have relatively low setup time on the car and didn't mess with springs or oil at all. Just tires.

Most will notice the car feels pretty different than the M03...it's hard to put your finger on it. It is more stable, but steers with less effort...and absolutely stays flatter than the M03...even without swaybars. So Im sold..the car goes faster with less effort and feels light on its feet.

The only bad thing we noticed is yes, the silver cans run a little hotter in them. I'll need to figure out how to get a fan on it.:D

Had my first race day with the M-05 and have discovered one weakness. If you're turning hard, the steering link and the knuckle on the inside wheel will become more parallel. When this happens the slop increases dramatically.

Not sure if it's been slowing the car down, but it does wiggle a bit on tight hairpins.

well, did my own test and it seems with the settings that I found, I can out corner the M03 no problem. Biggest difference is that I can use grippier tires without worrying about traction rolling. You can carry more speed through the turns, so forward traction is not so much an issue even with the 55/45 weight ratio. Groskamp's zero rebound dampers and the new suspension geometry mod seemed to match well. As I tested the tires out, I got it to a point where the car did start to traction roll. At that point I changed my driving style and fiddled with the exponential/dual rates. There again I found a sweet spot and I say the car is dialed now. I can keep up with some 17.5 TCs now.:sneaky:

This can't be helped with most tamiya plastic cars. The TA05 and TB03 both does this too. The car can make hairpins at 65% dual rate so I don't really get to that extreme steering angles. If you ever have to change Chubs, don't use the M03 ones because the M05 one comes with a stopper that prevents the steering tie rod from going beyond parallel. My friend found that out the hard way doing a conversion.

Chubs? You lost me on that one.

i am planning on running M-grips all around and i was woundering what foam to buy for them or if i should buy different tires?
At the moment i'm running S-grips fronts, super slicks rear and the surface i am running on is about 2 yr. ashfolt.

Aah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I really didn't want to change my chub.

I've got alloy M-03 steering pieces on there now. Maybe I'll try the stock M-05 bits. I know that I'll never steer the car tight enough to worry about that, but maybe just once I'll try something out of the box instead of blingy.

Not pissed off at people asking questions .. just replies that are misleading or questions that have been asked two posts before and answered but the next poster is to lazy to look. The original reply gave the impression the motor is far more covered when in fact it is only covering an extra 2% of the can surface area ... hardly an issue. And from what I can tell the motor hole recess is exactly the same size in both cars. :D

cool....

Hey, those are the same frictonless friction dampers used on the TT-01! More of a "spring holder" really. Mmm, cheesy.
