No he is talking about a gear diff. The extra shims slow the action down. If you are going to do this, it would be a good idea to get the hardened diff outdrives. You use the extra shims from the gearboxgear sets. An extra two or three each side.

Yep, that's correct. Here's another tip if you are using shims to stiffen the gear diff action: use a little glue to attach the first shim to the inside of the gearcase, and a little lube between the shims. That way the shims will rub against each other, and the gear case (which is pretty soft) will last longer. You can also run the first shim dry, but just a teeny spot of glue on a new, clean case works much better. Or you can replace the gearcase every four or five weekends as the plastic wears away...

They've only discontinued the Miata/MX5, if you still want one an M04M is still available as the Alfa Giulia Sprint.

Buy one and set it up then come back and post your experience. Reminder Tamiya only has two types of tires legal for the 2009 season and neither one of them are any good on an M04 unless you have old compound tires (pre 2007) meaning the 2006 winner (Troy) said his car worked and therefore took a gamble and he shot out front every start and with the 10% additional gearing the M04 has he was able to stay out front. Thats what he told me when we spoke 2 years ago at the Nats.

In a gear diff i use the plastic body washers for shims the lexan material for some reason works better for me. I use a metal and lexan washer on each side and the when I build the diff i adjust the screws to how tight I want the diff its almost like an adjustable diff. I put it in the car slap the two chassis halves together turn the wheels oposite each other and if its not tight enough I screw in the 3 screws that hold the cover on its a cool little technique that works pretty good. But keep in mind I just built a TA03 ball diff and a Gear diff that was not fully packed with anti wear grease but just enough to keep the gears well greased and the TA03 ball diff weighed 19 grams and the Ball diff weighed 28 grams almost a 3rd more in weight

Hi guys, my son and I are building mini coopers to compete in the TCS races in milwaukee wisconsin. I need to know what would be a good servo to use in the coopers, hopefully a digital servo.
