Silver can Motors

I have a few OLD silver can motors...about 8-10+yrs old. Most have never been run. I just got my mini together and was wondering if I would be better off buying a new motor or is there any advantage in dusting of the old jobs.

I never ran the silver can motors that came with most of the kits back in the day, they where just tossed in a box. The mini class where I am going to race requires a silver can.

Break them in and try them.

If they have a composite end bell, they are not legal for the TCS races and they are not very good any way. If they have the metal end bell, as suggested, break them in and try them. Who knows you may have a couple of 4 slots and some of those are very good.

So..it'll just look like this then....

I think I prefer the smoke chrome of the original myself. Sometimes you CAN have too much blue...

Tony

surely you jest!

The problem with the smoke chrome is that the plating flakes off. Any time that I use a compressor to blow out the debris, chrome flakes go flying. I have no reason to believe that the blue chrome won't do the same thing. I'd prefer that they just leave the chassis black and put the plating cost to better use.

I think it would look fine without the blue wheels...that to me puts it over the edge. The chassis looks nice.

I think the blue chassis looks best with wheels! Saw that setup at the Memphis TCS race last weeks and it was soo hot!!!!
Too bad I was to lazy to install my blue chassis....

Yeah I ran mini this year at the Memphis event. I only got one good run in because someone hit my mini head on going the wrong way on the track during the check in at full speed right before my second qualifier!!!:flaming::weird::cry::flaming:
My first run was good enough to get me in the B-Main, total surprise!!!;)
My name is Joe, you painted a body for GT1 car last year, thx again....:)
Maybe I'll see you in Maryland, I've got to try and redeem myself from Memphis.:sneaky:
Congrats on winning in Memphis!
