I've found the Tech racing wheels are pretty tough. The dish wheels are ugly, but the various spoke wheels are decent looking. The Tamiya Swift wheels are tough too, & they're cheap.

On the wheels, keep in mind if you are planning to do TCS events, they've gotta be Tamiya wheels... (just a reminder)

question...if I go the suzuki m03m as suggested, but I'm a mini tragic, does anyone make a mini body that will fit...and if so who does.

otherwise, I'm thinking of going the M03 for racing, such as the XB Mini Monte Carlo...will I lose out much to the m03m.

Buy the M03M, remove the middle chassis spacer..and VIOLA'....the Tamiya Mini body fits... That spacer size is really the only determining factor as to what body fits. The M03M has a little bit different suspension geometry...plus bearings and the 2 degree toe in rear uprights and the black chassis just looks a lot nicer. Go to http:// www.rc-mini.net/ and all your questions will be answered.

Strongly agree.

Buy a Suzuki Swift kit ( it comes with the above goodies : bearings, steering uprights, 2 degree rear uprights ), and buy Mini Cooper Classic body. Remove the body extender, and you're set.

The New Cooper S 58400 has the same features as the Swift,Bearings, F parts so you can get that one aslo and remove the extension and use a Classis mini body if you want.

Type of tires, Tire location, & Insert combos

Type of tires, Tire location, & Insert combos

Guys what type of tamiya mini tires are out there?
What is its unique characteristics?
What front and rear combo of tires you must use in a kit and its initial reactions?
What combo of inserts for each tire in different positions?
How do they perform in asphalt tracks like the tracks in Wodonga Australia?

tony gray 01-02-2008 07:39 PM

Tyres for Wodonga? What better indication than the top 3 place getters from the 07 Vics held at that exact track..

1st - Front Tyres/Inserts - 60D Tamiya Hard Inserts/HPI DIsh wheels - 2deg toe-out (Thats how you get a car with 60D's to turn)
Rear Tyres/Inserts - Pit Shimizu Soft w/Ride SuperSoft shaped insert/HPI Dish wheels

2nd - Tyres: Pit Shimizu hard all round, Pit standard inserts

3rd - Front tyres/inserts - 60D type A slicks with standard grey foam insert
Rear tyres/inserts - Pit Shimizu inner mesh, soft compound with pit inserts

SIR WHAT IF WE ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO USE TAMIYA TIRES??? ITS FOR THE TAMIYA CUP

tony gray 01-02-2008 09:22 PM

Double Post...

tony gray 01-02-2008 09:25 PM

Well for a start there isn't a Tamiya Cup in Australia any more...

But if its Tamiya Tyres only then you'd run Type A 60D slicks all round, with S grips as an alternative.
