hmmm
what tires do i need to win every race i enter ???????
and dont say round ones lol .............. :D and also i need the mini set up for the tcs race in memphis so whoever has the crystal ball send me a set up sheet ....... :ha: |
CArthik- Some good advice here already. S Grips are stickier in terms of compound but might be too grippy for your carpet. Hence the suggestion to use M and S combination. I would say get two pairs of each, set up one pair of each with the insert + foam combination and the other set with just the foam. On carpet you will now be ready for just about any combination of surface and shock setup possible. What you'll like is what works for you. Look at the A Main lineup of Mini's at any TCS race (regional or Nats) and you'll find that they're all somewhat different, yet all are fast.
Dynoman- Pretty much every tire combo works in Memphis due to the lovely traction they have there. I've used A's, M's and S-Grips various years and, as you know, I generally finish near the top. Same goes with shock oil and springs. I've seen everything from all whites to yellows and reds. All works. |

I dont have lots of money to glue a set of tires and notice the setup is wrong and then go and buy another set. What is wrong with asking everyone? Is that not what the forum is for? The main reason I keep asking, I cannot afford to buy tires and end up not using them like some people on the forum might be able to.

We ran mini's fo9r 12 hours, and no one used a fan. I think a few teams used the tamiya M03 Heatsink, just for gearbox support.

I could only assume that's actually for the Mini, but are there any other "M" cars? Thanks for the link, maybe I'll order a set or 3, and see if they will work. |

Car Thick, there is no such thing as a bad choice of tire or insert ... wheel perhaps (damn those white abc rims!). I run at 4 different tracks, and when one tire won't work at one track, it will work great at another, when it won't work when it's hot, then it will work when it's cold, if it won't work on the M03, then it will work on the M04 or on a 4WD mini ... just buy your tires and give the rest of us some peace ... ;) SPICE (#SPA-123) 5.5mm Molded )Insert (Hard) For M Car ya damn those white ABC rims.. the black ones are great though ABC#24118 |

Yeah, we've used fans with the 19T GT1 and Black-can GT2 class, no problems.. Not sure if I've ever seen one on a Mini, though..

I'm sure those inserts are for mini as Spice also do a new series of rims for the mini as well, I found some photos:
Might have to buy a set of the black ABC rims, my white ones shattered on the first run, I couldn't believe it! |

Has anyone tried the tires from Take Off for the mini? If so how are they. Thanks.

TG10 servo posts are #53308
Keith - I've got the RP30 mini tires. The RP tire numbers run in reverse, ie 24 is a harder compound, 30 is mid range and 36 is soft. On my M03 the RP30's traction roll on most outdoor tracks, only one of our tracks do they not traction roll. I've managed to get them to work well at an indoor track (non-carpet), it really just depends on the surface. If you're running a Johnson motor they might not traction roll as much, but in melbourne we're running sport tuned motors so we're carrying a bit more speed - maybe that's why I'm getting traction rolls with the RP's, all the other tires work well here. Also, on the M04 I'm running RP30's on the rear with Pit Shimizu softs on the front, seems to work well :) |
Thanks, it was the RP30's that I was looking at.
