i had a similar issue, then it was recommended to me by a guy at the track, to use blue lock-tight on the screw. I did that and i didn't have any more issues with the diff loosening or stripping

That is a good idea and I do that too. But the bell washers wear over time and needs shims. Basically won't tighten the friction without shims.

Wow gotta try that. Been running a almost locked gear diff. We have outragous speed
On the straights, but really loose (atleast I do, Golddust seems to handle the curves better tham me, as usual.) speed on the curves. This may just be drivers ability.
The only sure way for me to find out is to sabotage his car so I can keep up with him

Yeah, when the diff is tight it understeers going into a turn and the rear swings around on my V2 too much in the in field causing me to slow down. I added max droop to try to contain it, improved but not at the level I am satisfied.

I was pricing out a set of Tamiya Rover Mini wheels, m-chassis radials (stock ones), and 60D hard inserts at a hobby shop in Nagoya. Came out to about US$15 with the current exchange rate for the set.

I'm paying $42 shipped in the USA from domestic online stores for the exact same thing.
Definitely going to pickup like 20-30sets next time I'm down there in Japan.

I just ordered some type a slicks, foams, and swift rims from banzai because the pre-mounts were an arm and a leg. Looks like a lot of the shops in China and Japan don't carry the type a slick premounts (1028 and 1029).

Thanks, would you have any recommendations for hard foams? I want something harder than Tamiya's Hard 60D foam..

After experimenting for 4-5 months, I found that my FWD's drive best with S-Grips radials on the front and the standard radials (kit tires) on the rear on my little track.

If anyone is interested in a M01 Montecarlo body, I found this ad this morning..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-50671...wAAOSwA4dWItEf

I already have one that I've painted and not yet decal'ed, but if I didn't probably already bought it. Requires 55D tires and narrow hub, and chop off the rear end of the chassis to make it fit right on the M05's. I have a few pictures in my albums page of my M05 and M01 sporting this body.

See red circle where I chopped..

isn't that body the same one that comes in this kit?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-Elect...3D221916448629

-if so, for only $30-$40 more you get the body plus the entire kit!
...w/ kits being so inexpensive, everytime I get a new body for my Tamiya mini I am always tempted to purchase the entire kit as i'll get a free set of wheels and a ton of other spare parts.

Hi eR1c, yes it is. In fact, my wife bought me that exact kit (was $135 actually, shipped) from the browny points I accumulated a while back because I wanted just the body.

And the chassis I put together with no bearings, completely bonestock, Spektrum 2ch receiver, and a Futaba S9405. I added the MR diff and the clear CVA's from my V2 later on. Placed my mule Rover body on it. My kid borrows it from time to time.

browny points earned from the wife, nice!

I like to say that I pay a "wife tax". That is for every purchase I make my wife purchases something. That's the wife tax.
