Hey guys I know many have been trying different 21.5's to try and find the "right" motor. So far, I've run the R1, Phanton Killshot, and Reedy Mach 2. Frankly its troubling that each have so many variables (ie: different rotors, stators, timing ranges, etc) What I've found that works the best is the broad band rotors (not sure if i should have geared down with the high rpm rotor as I ran a 20t pinion for all)
The Reedy seems to offer the best balance between torque and rpm. Not sure if this is the absolute best, but its just opinion at this stage. Just came back from the TCS race at Horsham this past weekend and although happy with the results, disappointed I did not get to practice earlier switching from my M05 to M03 and not getting to fully test all the motors I have. Planning on a practice weekend in a few weeks to further weed out the best motor for my driving style. On a separate note, I know we're all expected to run blinky mode. So i purchased a hobby wing just stock speedo for the M03. Does anyone have any experience with this speedo and how does it compare to a tekin rs? other than the price! I still wish Tamiya would release a spec motor and speedo |

As far as motors go I run the Revtech Killshot Rpm 21.5 in my mini and it puts out well to me. I also use the hw justock esc in my mini and gt3 car. Have no complaints but as stated the programming box is a huge plus when making changes.

Jason Just curious.. What good is the program box if you have to run blinky mode? I thought the whole point was that you couldn't dig into the speedo. Isn't blinky mode supposed to be all pre-set end points? |

Greetings. Hey Fresnojay, thank you for postin' the link to petitrc-I'd just built my first M05!(kinda had fun buildin' it till i'd got to the rear suspension- s,m, & l -arms in the wrong direction:ha:) I wish i'd had bearings before building it:lol:.

Problem is i had great success with the stock stuff but just need to up the cst by a little bit i dont like the feeling of a really tight diff. I want to say the stuff it comes with is like 5-6 thousand so i would want to gomto like 10,000 but i want to be sure

I recall the stock stuff being pretty thin. Maybe around 40wt.

stock oil of the 3-Racing diff is "2000", probably cst. But it feels stiffer in the beginning, as the 3R needs quite a good time to run in properly. For my M06 I started with 1000 in new condition, and changed later to 2000. Last race I run with another M06 very competitive, he even used 10000cst, he admitted after the Race. (this was on a medium grip carpet). I think its no problem if you start with 10.000 in your M05 to find your preferences. Br, Matthias |

Looking forward to running my new Tekin FX-R pro in my silvercan M05 tonight. First indication on th bench is that has a slightly higher pitch at top speed. The only thing I'll have to try and avoid is crashing as the reverse seems to take ages to engage :lol: Maybe with the hotwire I can reduce this delay?
Re the 3 Racing diff questions, I fitted my 3 Racing diff with 5,000cst oil from the begining for around 6 months sometimes racing twice a week without any problems. No leaks, still feels as tight as when I fitted it. Good product :cool: |
Has anyone been running the Blitz Racing shells? I'm looking for opinions, specifically on the Jazz and the GTI.
I've got an RS1 in the 1mm thickness. I love the weight and durability of the thing. I know I'm not going to win an A main anytime, so I may as well have fun and try to make my equipment last. It's hard to tell if it's a stable shell, as I've been running it on my M04. There's not much that can make that go in a straight line. Other than that, I like the shell. It looks kind of mean. |
