The plastic gears are identical from 03 to 06. 03-04 diffs will fit the 05-06, but the larger bearings used in the 05-06 specific diffs will not allow them to fit an 03-04.

Unless it is the longer, grooved version that comes only from the M05GE then Tamiya will rule it as ineligible for their race series.
I do know, for example, that the Japan trip winners from here, usually build all "new" cars to make the trip. Lots of minor differences that just male it easier to build a whole different car. Bensi won with an M03, but had to build M05s to race there. For us racing TCS USA, it won't make a difference. We'll probably use the M06 part and switch over to the M05 part when it becomes available if they insist. It's not something the Tamiya people here would do. Frankly, I suspect that they will allow either part. |
I'm sorta glad that TCS died in Australia years and years ago.....

I have a m05pro with the stock clear CVA shocks. I'm confused when it comes to shocks. I'm looking to buy the following:
Tamiya TRF Works Damper Set for M-Chassis #84318 Do i need the following kit first? Tamiya 54000 50mm M-Chassis Aluminum Damper Set Is #84318 an addon to the #54000 or can I just buy the TRF Works Damper Set. Or is the TRF Works Damper set compatible with my existing CVA Shocks? |
Both of those are complete, standalone damper sets. Buy one or the other - not both. They're essentially the same thing, but the 54000 is generally a better deal.

Since we're on the topic of dampers, anyone know if the new Yeah Racing ones will fit the M05? http://www.rcmart.com/yeah-racing-xp...h=595_744_1389
Then again at that price I could get the 3Racing ones. Looking for some in expensive Lipo packs for the M05, Any recommendations? I wantto give the Gen Ace a try but the wires aren't coming out of the center may cause some issues? |
Has anyone tried the 3racing ball diff for the M03? Wondering if it's any good.

Like Grandpa, I too am glad TCS racing didn't die here in SoCal. The Tamiya track is a great facility, which we almost lost a few years ago. At least in this instance, thank heaven for the real estate crash! But the greatest loss would have been the meeting place for a great bunch of guys, held together by this common RC interest, that have become part of my family, some of my best friends. We have experienced life together, and I would so miss spending Saturdays with them...

Locally, with no TCS, the TCS ruleset does nothing for us, except make us pay the higher tamiya prices. The current ruleset used by the local big series is excellent, and the racing has been incredibly close for many years. |
Wished TCS was more popular up here. It has died out.

Haven't been on here in a while but thought I'd share my latest project with the mini enthusiasts out there

That's awesome! Reminds me of one of my Tamiya rigs. (not a mini in this case)
