BTW, I do have a rear swaybar fitted, however it is disconnected on one side, so it does not work. |
Having been only involved with TCS racing for almost the entire time of racing Minis, I have fallen behind on a lot of the new diffs etc. My fault entirely as there have been plenty of posts, which I haven't read, cause it was not something useful at the time. Recently, there are a couple of venues that are starting to run Minis again that allow some "outlaw" stuff.
I have a couple of M05s that sit neglected on the shelf so would like to convert them to "outlaw" racing. Please understand, I mean no disrespect with the term outlaw as that seem to be preferable to "cheater". While TCS racing is something I will continue to do, it can be a little constraining with it's Spec tire and strict rules on everything else. However, taking a TCCS car to an "outlaw" venue, would be like taking a proverbial knife to a gun fight. If I haven't pissed people off with the term "outlaw", I was hoping some of you would bring me up to date on the new diffs. Also would like some info on some of the new small diameter tires, particularly for carpet racing. You can PM me since there's no use reposting a bunch of stuff. Calvin, kudos for your recent win. Hard work does pay off. Let me hear from you cause I leave the Facebook stuff to you young people. Did some trading on the stock tho. |
Local to me in the UK, carpet tyres are Sweep pre-mounts (33 front with glued sidewalls, 25 rear), diff is 3Racing with 5K oil.

M03 camber issue

I was wondering if anyone out there has come up with a solution to reduce the amount of Camber both front and rear in an M03?
I adjusted my ride height down to around 6.5mm and the camber is rather excessive, like 3deg. Attached are some pictures showing the front and rear. 1 & 3 are the front and 2 and 4 are the rear. The simple solution is to adjust the ride height up but this is not desired. If there's no solution i guess I'll do more testing to see if the ride height or less camber provides better performance. |
Has anyone got any idea why the level of front toe out would increase after two meetings on my m05? I haven't adjusted it. I initially set it to around 2 degrees, now it looks nearer to 5! I placed a couple of washers in the steering rods to set toe and they're still there. Could it be worn ball cups?

Toe out / camber angle will drastically change depending on ride height using m03/05 chassis. |

Yeah racing makes an optional set of camber links which allows for full adjustment.

We've decided as racers in this area to make the Mini class as spec as possible to keep racing simple and close. So we're using the TCS rules with further restrictions. Here's our rules if anyone is interested, CTMP, so far it's working out very well. The class is growing weekly with new drivers. |

You hit the nail on the head there sosidge.
Only after comparing the uprights to my brother's m05 did I see the bent uprights. Both left and right are bent the same amount, hence not spotting it in isolation. Thanks. |
MO3 front diff question
Far as TCS races..what is everyones are useing for front diff?
Pack of grease in gear diff...or lock gear diff or ball diff ? |
