Oh man....raced my M-05 for the first time last weekend what a blast. Even if I screwed things up. Normaly there are like 10 mini's but Sun they had 23. the first heat I got in only 2-3 laps before I lost a rear wheel nut. they got the wheel back on and found the nut, but over tightened the nut so it just pulled to the right. Oh well.

the 2nd heat went much better. after a few laps started to get a feel for it and started pushing it a bit. I was suprised at how hard I could push it. I could run WOT through everyting but like 2 corners. Still had a hard time keeping a tight line. I finished 4th. but my times were all over the place. up to 6 sec. last 5 laps were within a sec though. but I was still 5 sec per lap off of the fast guys

made it to the b main and broke a c hub and couldnt steer about 3 laps in, finished in 10th out of 13.

here is something I noticed. We are all running silver cans, but in the second heat i was getting passed on the straights. I just didnt have the top end that some of these guys had. I was running the sweeps @ 55mm compaired to the 60d's. Maybe they ran the highspeed gears. I know some of them are serious about the silver cans and they have found the fastest motors

all I know is I have to find more top end and work on my line

Any more info on this, what exactly is "white putty" ?

Can Tamiya (54192) M05 Aluminum Steering Link work with stock plastic cam thingy (the one sit on bearing), or do i need additional parts (tamiya 54191) to make it work ?

I only needed steering link to make car go straighter..

Almost done building my new M05 Pro. As usual with the Tamiya kits they're a joy to build Need to assemble the shocks and fit some more electronics in there, and paint the Nissan Silvia S15 body I got with it. Unfortunately I'm having issues finding PS-59 dark metallic blue here in Sweden but I'll find it eventually

I have heard of special bearing treatments to make them freer. Like removing the shields for example. I've never bothered to do that because I don't want to be replacing bearings every meeting because I got a bunch of crap in them.

But I'm starting to think that minis free up a bit as they get older. Mine seems like its gotten faster as its gotten older.

The other things to consider are the tyre diameter, as you stated, does make a difference. Also the diff. A properly set diff will give better drive off the corners, and prevent the car from diffing out and essentially being 1 wheel drive.

Dont forget batteries, what type and what capacity batteries is everyone running? Or motor temps. If they have a heat sink and you dont your motor may not be performing quite as well.

And finally, silvercans are not all created equal. There's a reason some people buy 5 of them and water dip and so on... I'm just glad we use the hobbywing system

Some of these guys take this way to seriously. they will dyno 20 motors to find the best one. 3-4 of them race 3 times a week. if we keep having 20+ mini's then maybe we need a novice class.

I am running a Gens ace 3000mah 25c 2s. One thing that is hurting my speed is I am getting sand inside my gearbox. I will get a piece or 2 stuck in the gears. I taped over the extra holes for the motor mount and nothing is cracked and it fits together like it should. Going to open it up again today and look for anything I misssed.

It is time for new gears. What is the feedback on the high speed gears?
before I put new gears in I need to solve the sand issue. running a silver can will I loose to much bottom with the high speed gears?

We fill the diff with poster putty, the adhesive putty. I got mine at the dollar store, so no questions on how much it costs

Welcome to Mini World! Blue bling is always nice to have, but in your case, not so sure it suit those wheels. Maybe some black wheel nuts would look better.

Yeah I know it looks silly, and probably even more silly when I get my body painted. I will probably end up stealing the black nuts from my TT-01, I just wanted to see what it looked like with the wheels on

Yes. The M06 Pro has that AL piece in the kit and the 2 plastic steering arms (cam thingies) are used with it. M05 and M06 steering parts are basically the same.
