Are the arm mounts interchangeable with those used on the 417?
Yes sir that's me! That was my dad bugging you on Wed night, lol.

I'm not sure on the arm mounts, I do know they are the same as the TA05, but again, not sure if those interchange with the 417.

I'm pretty stoked to run the car, as well as mess with the IFS and conventional setup. Should be fun.

Default Dif putty

I went to my LHS today and friend advice me and sold me some diff putty for the front.

I am wondering if anyone is using this in their car and most importantly how is it applied to the diff. I built the car as per the instructions so there is already the while oil in the diff. which was the clear #900 I believe the comes with the kit.

I will the putty be stronger than 50,000 serpent diff lube?
Essentially i was told the car would have too much steering with the 900 WT oil in the front diff.

If you watch TamiyaUSA on youtube they specify to use 100K infront and the stock oil in rear... There is an excellent thread on rctech about this, but I don't have it in my favorites unfortunately...

let me find it. I wonder why they just did not include the 10K in the box or why not just write it somewhere in the manual. No big deal I am just wondering.

The stock diff oil expands very quickly and you will run into problems sooner then later I rebuilt my front and rear diffs 3 times each with new seals and double seals and it didn't stop it. I bought the ball diff for both my 06's and switched to the thicker oil and it no longer pushed on steering or leaked ever again.

Default I am having bigger problems than that

I finally for all the components in the car tonight and was able to bring it life for a few moments. I drove it on the carpet in my living room which suggest that I drove it very very slow (no room to run).

When I accelerate to move forward the car seems to make a chartering noise. Like a loud grind/click. It seem to take place in the rear mechanisms. I wonder if anyone experienced this and is able to help me.

On a happier note, the car is done!!!
I am just curious on the play of the universals. I found some extra shims and I used them behind the wheel hex to get rid of the play.. I wonder if this was a good idea?

As long as you don't have a binding issue, then not a bad idea at all.

I built my diffs per the build on the TRF site. (1k rear, 50k front) I figured I'd start there.

Maybe a silly question, but did you use any lube on the cv's?
I know when they run dry, they will stick a bit.

Default finally drove it.

It must be my motor and the stock gearing but this car is kind of slow?
Its very easy to drive though and I am really like how responsive it is. I drove it on the tennis court at my complex. One of the rear shocks fell out and the chassis hit the court. First battle scar I guess on the chassis =(

what bothers me the most is that I have a chassis protector, I just did not put it on... anyone use one of these?

What motor are you running?
I ordered up a few 64 pitch spurs to fiddle with gearing a bit myself.
