Default TA06 Lightweight Idler Shaft question

hi folks
Tamiya (#54344) TA06 Lightweight Idler Shaft
i (mistakenly?) assumed this is a replacement for the K11 part in the gearbox
but it does not fit over the Main Shaft (diameter of the idler is to small)

So who can tell me what this part is supposed to be used for then... ?

it's a replacement for the solid shaft in the gearbox, part BA24 in the ta06-r manual

thanks !
that makes sense

that being solved, there should be a metal or alu replacement part for K11 imho :
in my ta06 the washers had worn de plastic K11 piece in for like 0.2mm
causing the pin in the mainshaft to wear out the idler gear (not the geartheat but on the inside)
this would not happen if K11 was alu

Whilst I don't disagree it would be nice if that piece either didn't exist or wasn't plastic, have you paid attention to the fact it is tapered? It is supposed to go in with the taper toward the bearing. Get this wrong and it will wear badly.

#58492 TA06 PRO

#84379 TA06 R

#84330 TA06 PRO

#92243 TA06 PRO
I recommend the #92243 TA06. This is my go to chassis still. I can say it takes a lot of work to get drivetrain free, but it is now just as good on the track as my TB03. Working on the belts and getting them just right plus ceramic bearings was required. I run the IFS setup on my car so I use the 417 style suspension. I love this car.

Hi.

Just wondering how the TA06 owners are. Any long term reports? I never had this chassis but there is one TA06 Pro for sale in my locality for $150. It's opened but never assembled.

Most of my cars are the TA05 V2 platform and the TA06 didn't get my attention because of its dual drivetrain.

Should I just stick with my TA05s? Or is it worth acquiring this chassis?

Are there any news on the next Tamiya TA? TA07?

Thanks and regards!

I've been running one since January of 2012. (sometimes 2)
I feel that you can get the car to handle really well, but it won't have the straight line speed of a chassis with a more efficient driveline design.

Must be good on technical tracks. There is somebody local selling his unassembled chassis for $150.

I guess I will be taking it sometime. Racers in my area are not big on on-road and not Tamiya fans.

Hi

That would be the TA06R. Nice features. All carbon reinforced plastics and aluminum center pulley mount. But not in IFS configuration.

I would believe so yes.

But I noticed with Tamiya kits is that they don't have one single kit that would be the most.

Some features are available in one kit which is not available in another. Marketing I guess...
