Oh why oh why did they not ship that with the TA06MS servo setup (so you put servo on the right eliminating the need to wire through the belt).

There are many upgrades you can get.

I like the bulkheads.

I would be happy if i could just buy the arm to put the servo on the right side.
The part number is 3450520, but I've never been able to find it.

I haven't found it either. I asked someone from Tamiya about it and they mentioned they would try to bring it in. But it has not yet happened.

the kit is pretty nice, will start building this weekend

i got titanium screws with the set although it does include hex screws
almost everything is either aluminium or carbon reinforced, doesn't need too many upgrades

if anyone else is building this set please post some updates/problems/tips, i will do the same as i start building

slightly off topic, i also got the lf3700 tamiya Life battery pack, was pretty recent addition to the tamiya lineup according to the store owner, i don't really like lippo and hope these will perform ok

Check back over my posts. Few pages back, what I built is 90% same as the R. Minus the alloy centre pulley mount (but I do have alloy pulleys!) but with more hop ups overall.

Pre threading the CFR plastic is the most important thing I would say.

thx cplus some good advice, i am going through the manual and this thread to see what i might need.

- i ordered 2x 5.5mm Alu. Spacer and the red diff rings

- does the set contain enough shims or should i order some more? is there a specific part number for shims?

- i see there are a lot of blue aluminium parts available to replace the carbon reinforced ones, are they worth it? or do they just look nicer?

- is there any advantage in getting the metal gear sets and shafts for the differentials? (54470 and 54471)

You will need extra shims (3mm) for the shocks - 1 under each piston - and some extra 5mm for the front hubs. They are better with locking metal hexes, but still not perfect.

Metal gears for the diff I wouldn't bother from the get go. When the plastic wear out, yep for it. Sand them down to 3.60mm and 4.55mm.

The alloy bulkhead parts do look nice, however, They are heavier though. And..... by the time you buy them you should have just bought a 418! I wouldn't, but I've got a 418 myself, so less inclined

Shim part numbers are 53585, 86 & 87 (3,4 & 5mm)

Just realised you can maybe hold the advice on the 5mm shims if you don't have DCJs in the front (does it have them std?) But then again it might still need them and they cost stuff all.

I'm suprised they didn't include the 5.5mm alloy spacers when they have alloy susp. mounts too!

What drive does it include for the front? A gear diff or a spool? If gear diff, what weight oil? If it is just more of the same 900wt that is used in the rear, that is much too light.

both diffs are gear, plastic crf parts
it just contains a bottle that says tamiya damper oil without further specifications, bottle is used for the rear and the front

It doesn't have the DCJ, but even if I don't need them some spare shims are never wasted

That clear oil is 900wt and the yellow is 400wt.

Yellow for shocks. Both are silicone not mineral based.

The 900 is ok for the rear diff, but much too thin for the front diff.

It will work to start though. Later you can fill it with much thicker stuff, some putty or better yet swap for a spool.

What sort of motor are you running?

Speaking of motors, when you do change to brushless, they are very picky, so do your research!
