I have a Corally Phi with the stock pullies 42/21, with a 96 spur. To get a 4.0 FDR, I calculate a 47t pinion for a 4.085 actually.
Question A, why 4.o FDR? ---Answered, found it on page 1 million in VTA thread
Question B, how much or how many have had to deviate from this number?---See above, same
Be easy, just a noob trying to get set up for VTA for my first time.
Another question, How good are the factory shocks on the Phi? I need to purchase some replacement parts and wondered if they were worth fixing or should I just opt for the Tamiya 42102's?
Final question, has anyone used the mustang coupe body yet and if so, will the rear tires fit with narrow spacers?

The stock shocks are fine, just rebuild them with only (1) o-ring in the lower portion instead of (2). I use 35 wt oil on all (4) corners. Corally 1.2mm pistons with 17/14 lb Corally springs and 5.5-5.8 ride height with the optional low shock towers. PHI 09 plastic steering blocks and rear hubs. 5 arms up front and 35 in the rear.For carpet, some tracks like 1 deg rear toe and others 2-3, I probably won't change the setup much for asphalt.
I run the pegasus mustang most of the time, but the 68/69 camaro's fit just fine with the standard hexes all around.
FDR, it depends, sometimes I am in the mid 3's with the 36/21 pulley combo and other times high 3's, mid 4's with 42/21.

Did anybody see the VTA race at Mike's Hobby Shop in Carrollton, Texas last Sunday? There were some very cool cars there.
One guy and his 6-year-old son brought 3 '68 Camaros with them.

I would start with droop, you probably let the rear arms drop too low allowing for massive front weight transfer off-power

It's a 1972 Pontiac Firebird. It is our official "Mike's Hobby Shop VTA Mascot" car. It really catches people's attention at the track. I have had 100 people ask me where they can buy that body, but I tell them it was an old Nikko toy car body and nobody makes a Lexan version of it for R/C cars.

Exactly what 100 people have told me. I am trying to get the word out to HPI Racing, Protoform, Parma, McAllister, or even Bolink to get them to make this '72 Pontiac Firebird body. So far I've had no response.
