anybody know what pinion spur combo WILL FIT in an xray t3 for 25.5

I'm thinking a 92 spur and somewhere between 43 and 50 pinion for 3.5-4fdr But I don't know if that combo will fit the car and touch or overlap etc.

I tested them back to back, very close.

From my first-hand struggles with gearing fitment, the 90-100 spur in 64p seems to be the sweet spot for most that I have tried, to get a tall enough gear ratio (4.0 FDR) and still have everything fit with a decent mesh. Anything larger and you can't get a big enough pinion on it comfortably and anything smaller, and you run out of motor mount reach.

I have one in my newly finished VTA car and it's really nice. Very small and tidy, looks good, and the best part was that it was only about $65 shipped to my door. Can't complain at all, and unless I'm running enough to be in the top 10 at the Nationals, the performance is perfect for me. And maybe then even still not an issue.

I got one in my car as well...got it after outdoor ended and i wasn't able to make the 'big' race a couple weeks ago that featured a VTA class to see how it actually stacked up against everyone...

i love that its SIGNIFICANTLY smaller then a GTB, makes mounting much nice - especially in my cyclone...and you're right, can't beat the price

i just was wondering if anyone has used it against the other speedos and how their luck was with them

Seems relatively one-sided coming from one of the manufacturers. You completely avoided noting the positives for the SP and negatives for the Novaks. Not a real unbiased comparison, by any stretch of the imagination.

You are welcome to perform your own comparison and post it in the thread that I linked; we only tested for the performance specs---which we consider the most important.

It really isn't a fair comparison when it's being done by one of the manufacturers—it's a commercial.

I'm sorry, most of us don't have access to diagnostic equipment and we're not electrical engineers. Price and size are most definitely important "specs" to consider when purchasing an ESC for a spec class. It's not all about on resistance or BEC amps when people are purchasing electronics. We make purchasing decisions with factors that most effect the buyer and end user.

I have had Novak products in my cars since 1984 and have vintage restorations in my collection with NESC 1, T1s and T4s in them, and have always been a fan of "orange." I'm not attacking or picking on you or Novak, Bob. Just pointing out the obvious. Your "comparison" isn't exactly unbiased information. The contributions Novak has made to the hobby and VTA in general has been enormous and wouldn't be where it is today without the support of Novak Electronics.

Having said that, I still wish you had a GTB-like speedo that took up about half of the real estate than the current offerings. Because even with the slight additional price of the Novak over the SP, I would prefer to have a made in the US Novak ESC in my VTA car—if it fit in my chassis.

A track buddy sold me a used Speed Passion and said that it was what they had before all of the GT2' and LPF's came along. It looks just like a Citrix. Just with differrent badging. I would like to use it if its legal.

Here is some usvta cuda goodness for you. I even did the black in flat. I may do a driver next.I went ahead and trace cut out the clear side window stickers, left the outlines and got rid of the bubbles after these pics. It looks more uniform and realistic now. Now to find me some scale size black numbers for the side.[IMG]http://i9.photobucket.com
