A few of us went to the Prarie Knights Casino GP in S. Central North Dakota and raced there. The event was put on by the PRCP crew with help from thier racing buds in Minot. Great time, great racing, great facility.

I'm not sure how/why but they split the mains up pretty small...so what I was pretty sure had been an A-main performance (so I kinda screwed around in my last quallie) ended up mid-pack in the B. They were doing bump-ups, BUT the deal was that if the person who won the C-main did so with a better lap total/time than the B-main winner they'd bump the C-main winner instead.

As it turns out I ended up winning the B and bumping to the A-main. Then my car decided to start traction rolling uncontrollably so I pulled it off after a couple minutes when it became clear that it wasn't going to improve as the tires warmed up, etc.

Racing was pretty close, the PRCP crew had banned turbo/boost/etc so the A-main cars all had best laps within a couple tenths. The TQ fellow, Cookie, had an UNBELIEVEABLE run in his third qualifier Saturday...11.0 fastest time, 11.0 top five lap average, 11.0 top ten lap average, 11.1 top twenty lap average. HOLY COW. A couple folks were, apparently, grumbling that he was running advance or something as the 11.0's were the fastest laps of the weekend. But Stormer had run 11.1's and a BUNCH of us had run in the 11.2's, so he wasn't fastest by much. Plus it wouldn't have mattered if he'd run 11.5's, a performance THAT consistent would likely TQ and win anyway.

Well, as someone who HAS a Pantera painted up and ready to go I would have to state that I (respectfully, humbly, and recognizing we all have a right to opinions) disagree. The Pantera would look out of place amid the late '60's pony cars and a BIG part of this class is the aesthetics...it LOOKS "right" out on the track and in the pits. The Pantera ran when the SCCA allowed 2-seat cars in so it was on the track with Corvettes, Porsches, etc, a group among which IT looked "right".

I understand what you are saying I just think that since the class is picking up we a more vast variety of bodies. I think if you upped the year to 75 yes you would be allowing the Vette and the 911 however even in those years drivers still raced the bigger muscle cars as well. Also in this class of racing which is now 25.5 instead of 21.5 and no boost or timing advance the body is not going to make a difference at all. I still like the class and will still race it because it is awesome this is just an opinion.

Wasn't there 2 (or more) classes within TA at that time and up until it's end?? I don't think the Porsche or Pantera ran in the same class as the mustangs and such. I think this discussion has come up before though. The idea of running 2 different "classes" of TA together. Maybe Cup Racers and existing VTA cars. Not a good idea in my mind and I'd choose the current program long before muddying the waters with another distraction. Lets head toward the new rules and keep things running smooth. Keep in mind that Andy has already stated another VTA body is in the works.

The 25.5 rule doesn't take effect until later this year (around fall 2010).

Nope. 25.5 only. Just remember that this is the national rule and not all tracks are going to switch. Some may keep current rules or modify to fit their track better. Its best to check with the local track to see what they are doing.
