the Hara upper deck does not include the hardware for the o-ring mod.
thickness of it is not thinner...
the thinnest HPI upperdeck is 2.0mm
and thickest is 2.5mm
the Hara upperdeck is 2.25mm.
it was designed to have more lateral flex and still be stiff front and back

see pics.

nw racer: the purpose for this mod to help minimize any chassis tweak in the event of a hard crash. just drill out the hole just big enough for the screw head to pass through. the car will still be stiff with the stock chassis and upperdeck and you'll not have to change your driving style...what kind of track are you running? if you're running carpet at Raincity. recommend getting the stiffer 3mm chassis and upperdeck. asphalt..stay with the stock set-up.

centax error!.... the arms are great for low traction tracks...they are hard to get and available overseas. another option is stay with the stock arms and get the 2mm chassis.
ok for those wondering the picts of the oring mod provided by are good friend rc-zombies is on page 397

I'm currently using a BMI 3mm main chassis and upperdeck on my carpet Pro4, but I usually have a tweak problem after a slight tap on the boards. Usually it not too bad and I can just drive around it (albiet more slowly!), but it is still annoying to have to re-set my car in the pits after every tap-o-the-boards.

I know the general idea behind the Hara spec upper deck is for lateral flex, and also to prevent the car from tweaking, but will this flex do more hurt than help on carpet?
Anybody?

I tried my 2mm top deck with the 3mm chassis for the first part of a meeting and when I changed to the 3mm the car was so much better. This isn't to say that I could have changed the setup, but I believe that on carpet with foams you need to go as stiff as possible. The hara 2.25mm top deck will probably have more lateral flex than the 2mm kit one so I'm guessing that would be even worse for carpet and foams.

All i run on is carpet and i do have the BMI chassis(3mm)on my car,I have the mod done on the top deak and dont really have any tweak problems,I would think with the thinner top deck you would have more tweak issue's,not less.I check tweak after every run,If your racing on as high traction surface you should check tweak after every run,It does not take much time.I check mine even after a clean run,The way i look at it is I allready paid for it so I'm getting my moneys worth..

Thanks kat...

So, by the way I read your post, you use the 3mm top deck and have done the mods to it. You think it seems to help prevent tweak.

Did you notice a difference in the car's handling before the topdeck mods as opposed to after the topdeck mods?

I also have the BMI 3mm upper deck and chassis. The car has the Hara mod done as well. I will agree that the car is a rocket on carpet. I bought my car with everything already done, and have been looking for tweak issues but so far there hasn't been any!

Holly crap, that's is a sweet pro4. Anything over 80 is warpspeed for a TC. Have you tested it with anything other than the Pike's Peak body? I used to have one, and it is STUCK!!!!!!. Maybe a little too stuck
