Hello guys...I have seach this thread for what seems like 1000 pages and cannot find the answers I am looking for. I hope someone would be able to help. I am considering buying and R3. I race indoors on carpet, foam tires with stock to 19 turn motors.
How thick is the chassis plate and top deck of the R3? Does the chassis flex much?
Does the R3 come with graphite composite plastic or is it just composite plastic?
What parts would be necessaary for me to be competitive with the R3?
Thanks in advance!
Joe

I believe the chassis is 2.5mm on the R3, but a R3 owner will have to verify that. The chassis material however, is higher quality than what the R2 was made out of, and therefore stiffer.

It will come with the regular plastic composite suspension arms.

The only thing you need to be competitive with the R3, is the R3 itself. Everything else is more eye candy than anything.

Hi Joe,
Yeah, I hear ya, it's hard to find info within these 1000+ pages. I've been running the R2 on carpet W. foams for a while. The R3 is very similar. Extra Parts? I'd definitely get a diff for the front. You might want to consider the midspan arms. They react a bit more agressive than the long arms on carpet. You will also need much stiffer springs...the ALEX springs don't go stiff enough. The Associated springs (yellow, purple, copper, red) are much better for foam/carpet. The ALEX has larger diameter shocks and spring retainers. To use Associated springs on an ALEX car, I flipped over the top shock retainer, and I used the Tamiya bottom spring retainer. Otherwise, this chassis is great for carpet. Yes, it's pretty stiff.
