Rob, plenty of us have used the light weight chassis, no set up issues, or strength issues.
Cant recall how much weight it saves, but anything is an iimprovement.!!

Hey Rob, on my cgm I tossed out the batt. strap and post. Cut the the post off the motor mount, and dremeled some slot's to tape the batt. in. That saved almost an ounce. I took off all the chassis braces, and run just the wide foam bumper not the plastic. I have the old style steel front shaft's in the car and it weigh's in at 51.2 ounces! Our min. wieght is 51.
I also drilled some holes in the chassis too. It flexes a little, but with Tosolini's last Cleveland set-up in it, it goes pretty good on carpet. Had a hard time with it last summer on asphalt, but may try some of the trick's I have learned on carpet and see how that does, ie. roll center's, anti-dive, etc.....
As for gear I run 34/100, 64 pitch, with 57 mm tires in stock.

Good Luck to all racing this weekend!!

The directions call for you to put the O ring in the rear cup, I put it in the front. This makes the shaft sit deeper in the rear cup. Was having problems with the rear cup breaking (plastic cups) in mod. Haven't broken a rear cup since I changed the O ring placement.

I wouldn't put O rings in each side. You need a little play. With a frontal hit you could damage the drive train if there isn't any give for the shaft.

RobPhilips: all the suggestions to cut down weight are really great, if you want more--It will be an expensive process. Ti this and that, alum here and there. But its a grreat car as it is!
Well, i finally got my SDW like i want, regular long HD arms in front made the trick, along with Rayspeed green springs, and a shorter camberlink inf ront. I'll see if i can make a setupsheet later..
The car is much easier to drive on carpet and rubber now, best car i've driven, period.
*edit*
I had nothing else to do so i made a sheet.
PDF file
looks terrible because of comprimation but i hope you can see anyway

Hey guys, im wondering if any of you can tell me what the SDW box looks like. Im looking at what i think is one, but i want to be sure its legit

It looks pretty low budget, just a black box with MR4TC SD and a big sticker that says something about ISTC2004 champion, all in japanese :P
I'll see if i can get a pic

What parts from the SDW will fit a CGM? Specifically, I want to know if the main drive shaft will fit.
Thanks!!
