Hey Stephen,
Just FYI, i have run at large open tracks and small tight tracks with the monster stock and have geared it between 6.9 and 7.4. 7.4 was the tightest track i've run on, Socal, and i believe i geared at a 6.9ish at Speedworld up north. I alway tend to gear that motor close to a 7.0 when i get to the track and work from there. Maybe you have it geared to low and its over revving or possible the tires you are using are gripping to much over working the motor? 8.0 seems to low to me but i guess every track is different.
Good Luck,
Blake

Epic Stock
I started to gear mine at 7.05 ---- not good enough!
Becaue I forgot I prepped the Motor (you should do it too)
GO HERE:

Now I gear it at 6.8!!!! I think that is the sweet spot! But like the post before me--- after preparing the motor it will be safe to go lower to 6.43--- maybe ever lower!! Heck I gear my MVP at 5.9!

Anyone know if the KO PDS-2143 or 2173 are prone to having centering problems? I've been using mine for a little while and sorta just dealing with it since I didn't know of the cause... I know KO have awesome servos but I'm thinking of switching and getting a couple of S9550's.

Gearing. What are you guys reffering to;
Spur / pinion x internal ratio
100/34 x 2.35 = 6.911

Jaybee, i think Matt is talking about the servo arm that slides onto the splined output piece. I also wanted to mention that i had a centering issue for a couple of weeks after i switched from a cgm servo saver to just a plain servo arm. I finally figured out the cause was from using the same screw from the cgm servo saver which was to long to actually hold the regular servo arm all the way on and would cause the servo arm to skip a notch every once in a while.

that's kind of what mine seem to be doing; I'll have to investigate it later...

I don't want to switch, but something smaller would be nice

Oh on the servo. I loved my S9550 but found that I wasn;t getting the speed I desired so I got the 2324 from KO mainly because it has HSR which works great with the Helios's ability to control the servo better. And it is much faster. I did have to squish everything on the floor though, when I get the Spektrum I think the Receiver is going on top the servo though...Not much space right now.
