Well for $200 new, its a heck of a lot "newer" than a TC3, but shaft drive IS a nice advantage in vta with the slow motor. Personally when I ran my type-r in VTA is was very hard to get the rear end to stick, it just had way too much front bite. We weren't chopping top decks back then though, so that may have helped.
I still feel like if someone were to make longer arms for the car it would probably be excellent, I had 3 of them over the years and have found other brand cars are just easier to be consistent with.

Thanks for the info. My son has a chance to get a Losi or a older x ray T1FK05 and he is trying to figure out which car would be better for him for VTA.

It will be hard to get parts for the FK05

spool v's diff
so I'm currently building my car, and I was wondering what the feeling/handling would be of putting a diff at the front as per manual, as opposed to spool. I guess I will never find out until I try, but have never used a diff at the front of ANY car before.
I'm guessing more turn-in off power, more on power steering as well. Slightly less forward traction......
can anyone share their experiences?

just gets better and better
how do I put the diff hub through if the losi spool pulleys center hole is too small? Dont tell me I have to bore a bigger hole? I would think the spool pulley would be an easy drop and fit.

however, why did losi bother making these if you cannot use the spool pulleys, or are these for the older jrx-s?

If you notice the spool pulley has no holes for the diff balls and the diff pulleys have round holes not square holes for the diff balls.... Seems like Horizon needs to get a phone call from you...

Hope that helps!

oh yep, the black ones look like the correct ones. But when I was researching about spools for the type r in this thread, people was always referring to the white ones, and made no mention of the black ones you have listed. I'll just carefully remove the plates from the white ones and install them to the current ones.
For $200, it seems a good kit for the price. My local hobby shop is going to order couple from Horizon.
