I just sold a Hacker , and with a 100/54, the motor was about a micrometer away from hitting the pulley. Im waiting on a Speed Passion right now, but I cant see it being any different.

Yes sir, 17.5. What would you grind on the bulkhead and where? It seems to me, its almost like material needs to be added to push the motor further back. Or the pulleys need to be smaller? But then the internal ratio would be messed up. It almost makes you think they didnt test fit the car with a brushless.

2 years ago when the car was designed I dont think there was such a thing as a 17.5. Like I said, with any motor but a 17.5 minimal modifications are needed to the gear where you need it to be. I can get down to 3.8 on my car. If you run 17.5 it looks like a prs adapter and a 104-108 spur you can probably get down to 3.3 or something. Thats gotta be close? What do guys run for gear ratio with a 17.5?

100/54 was 3.39. Im not saying that was a hot setup or anything. I had heard with the Hacker motor I had to gear it up about 2 teeth more than normal, so thats what I tried. I was just making the point that even with a big pinion the pulley was almost rubbing the motor. Makes perfect sense about the 17.5 not being around back then though. Would have been hard to predict we would be using these little spurs with huge pinions.

At my track it is beating the xray 2008's and 2007's of course not the one i drive heh i'm solid b main but i'm almos there man Scooby helped me get my car worked out and i'm gonna try some lipo's to get some power into the car.

I have used the 108 spur when 118/56 is not high enough, but that isn't too common....smaller then a 108 moves the motor too far forward in most cases.
Larry 17.5 roll out is between 46 and 50 depending on the speedo and track size, i would imagine at jackson around 52 would be a good starter.

I like me Type R too, but I would like it a lot better if there were something new I could buy for it. Makes me jealous when Xray and others are releasing optional parts for their cars every other week.

Honestly one of the best things about the type r is that we don't need new stuff all the time to be competitive, spend the money on tires or a nice painted shell instead....or better yet lunch...haha
We are running indoor asphalt for the summer instead of carpet at my local track now, and the type r is one of the few cars so far that is working very well without getting a different (thinner) chassis or softer suspension parts. Other cars are fast, but the drivers have bought various tidbits to aid on the different surface. To really hit this home, my car that was setup from carpet rubber hasn't even needed a single change yet.

They release options for those cars for it is needed more then likely to get it to handle better. The Type R is fine the way it is unless you are running 17.5, which I don't. There is nothing I would want to change on any of my three cars. They work they way they are.

I totally agree with both of you. Its just that it feels like Losi has abandoned us. Just give us some aluminum c hubs or knuckles or something. Not that it really needs it. Yall wouldn't like some c hubs or steering knuckles, or rear hubs? What kind of stuff do yall have on your cars? We need to post pics of what we got. Yall game?

Anyone, anyone? Does anyone wanna start a Type R photo series of our cars. You know you wanna show whatcha got.
