It's an aero bumper. The orientation in that picture would create lift, not downforce.

Yes, that's why it should point up

Just finished building my MTC3 this week. First touring car in quite some time and first time ever racing on asphalt. Unfortunately not going to be able to race it this weekend so the debut will have to wait until next week.

I'm super stoked with how it came out and wanted to share. Got it at 1302gr with a body on.

How is it upside down? The flat part is towards the bottom.

I noticed when I flipped mine last night , that the other side of the bumper has two little plastic/rubber dowels/set pins ? That slide into the lil holes on the carbon fiber bumper .

I flipped mine as well. I'm just confused because it looks wrong to my eye in the correct direction but I see what people are talking about in regards to airflow.

I think it's to get the bumper a little higher to prevent it to drag on the ground under braking.

The bumper veins are "supposed" to create downforce by channeling air upwards. It all sounds good right? The bottom is beveled to prevent drag when the nose dives. A lot of the printed TPU bumpers are designed that way.

The comment literally immediately before your one with the pictures explains that the flat part goes towards the top.

Given that you guys think this bumper is generating down force. Lets stop messing around here and how about we just put a legit wing in there.

Its not about generating downforce on the nose ....
its more about aero under the body and not lift from the air being trapped against solid foam.

Same reason we use to hog out our foam bumpers on oval cars.
But we were allowed to cut our rear bumpers out for the air to escape so there wasnt any drag.

Why are you even arguing close cell vs open cell. Do you understand the flow dynamics that's being debated here? That was a rhetorical question... if you didn't catch it

Sorry thought I was discussing with someone who would understand.
Who uses open cell foam for bumpers on their touring cars.

Still out of context, you know I wasn't talking about foam composition. This is why I don't even bother anymore. The F'n analogy was over your head.
