Anyone aware of any company's making TC5 chassis for carpet or such? I don't know of any, and that's kinda surprising that BMI of CEFX hasn't step up and made a thinker one considering the popularity of the car. Just a though.

Default Washers on motor screws

I does not matter what type of washer you use as long as they fit in the slot and the screw goes through the hole.
The obeject is to protect the aluminium from the chewing of the screw as it tightens and also to reduce the tendency for the motor to move as you tighten.

I use steel washers and they are fine. Do not use spring washers.

regards

Don

I should probably use some washer as I'm using a couple of the short black non-countersunk screws for the motor.

But I found a problem with running a 69 spur gear, it rubs on the upper deck.

Arrow points to where the rubbing accurs, all I did to fix this problem was to use a bench grinder and some rough sand paper to remove some of the upperdeck to stop it from hitting. At a guess with a 70/71 spur probably won't rub.

I would deff. Just switch to 64 pitch. It's so much easier to work with, and more ways of tuning for speed. And the spurs are more narrow, and shouldn't rub.

I run 48 pitch and had the same problem. I just lightly sanded the topdeck a little like you did and then I respaced out my topshaft. I took the thick silver alum spacer off (roughly 2mm thick) and used two 1mm ones on each side of the layshaft and it moved the gear over ever so slightly. Now it won't ever rub and my driveline is just as smooth or mabe a tad smoother than before so it was a win win overall.

With the new speedos out gearing with 48 pitch is not a problem unless you run the first generation brushless speedos where you need to really gear motors hard to get the speedo you need.

Nice thing is they run smoothly and have a little more room for error without strpping a gear. The other great thing is thos 48 pitch spurs like you have on are really cheap and will last a very long time.
