[QUOTE=Rojna;5547809]if u gona run rubber go for the TC5R

with the R you get updated belts ( much smoother then stock TC5 ), new diff cam holders, aluminium diff outdrives ( tc5 has plastic ) and ITF chassis plates which make the car easier to drive.

thanks for the feed back i think i will go with the ft tc5r

yep that's you're best bet.

I'm a long time basher. and not a new to the touring car racing. its a smooth car. easy to drive. and goes where you want it to. (but my body is a wreck because I'm just getting into it lol)

I cut a transponder mount out of the radio tray from my RC8...no PTs at the hobbytown I race at...thought I would post it up in case anyone else has to use house transponders...

who puts shims on the diffs ? the ones that go next to the cams and diff? does it smooth things out a little?

and who remembers when some pro drivers put the rear tc3 shock tower in the front, so the car will have a rear shock tower in the rear and a rear shock tower in the front. has this ever been done on the tc5?!? lol

I shimmed mine slightly just for better alignment w/ the belts & center pulley. duno if it makes any difference...this is my first belt car but seemed logical to me to try to center the belts.

Does any one have a good starting point for a TC5R on asphalt that is untreated. No VHT or soda just plain asphalt. I can use any tire/sauce combo i want.

Thanks
Jerry

Try Bob Stelflue's 2007 Reedy setup. It was pretty stable on a totally unprepared (and dusty) track even without treating the tires. I think that with a few minor tweaks to suit the track it should work just fine.

I personally have run Ryan Cavalieri's setup with a few tweaks from 2007 On Road Nats. Changes I made were fronts springs are blue not gold, I also run the front camber at 2degrees for a little more steering. This setup I have run at two different tracks, one concrete, and one asphalt and both tracks it has been great, just had to check the car over between rounds no changes at all.

If you have a TC5, stay away from Integy. One of my rear arms had a swaybar hole that was unthreaded (they didn't tap it). And both the rear hub carriers aren't machined deep enough to let the bearings seat completely. When you put it all together it puts a lateral squeeze on the bearings.. I didn't notice and ruined some nitride bearings 3 packs into them.

Their support has been most unhelpful. Instead of taking their unfinished part back (rear arm) and giving me a completed one, they only offered a discount on buying another one. Integy also says that since I didn't buy them directly from them they can't verify that they are the right parts (bought them from Tower Hobbies, tower won't take them back, no surprise). They look just like the parts I took off, just like the ones in the pictures, and fit perfectly except for the mentioned problems.

So instead of fixing the problem like a responsible company, they chose to shrug it off.

Its not like I'm asking for much, just the parts I ordered, although machined RIGHT. I didn't ask them to replace the bearings or anything (that was my stupid fault assuming the parts were in tolerance).

Beware of Integy.

The only good thing ive seen come from them are wing mounts for the b4/t4...everything else is unfitting and unfinished...
