At the beginning of the posts, someone was looking for a spray to make the 540 faster. It was REEDY IN A CAN. Great stuff. BTW, you CAN advance the timing on locked arms. You can get about 5-6 degrees before breaking the lock.

What are good power and rpm numbers for 540J 53689 motors using a Fantom dyno?

Of course using LEGAL breakin methods.

Good is about 32

My current best is a 37

My all time best was a 43 - it was a rocket.

Of course, the power number is just one variable. Another to keep in mind is the torque. Good Torque number is 700+, I think my all time best was a 760.

im out of retirement now. but it was more of a "temporary break" we bought a house, so i didnt race during the winter season...... and the only racing im doing this year is TCS. what about you? how are things with you?

Cool I got three in the .700++ one thats a 33 and .743.

I have been trying to get some bushing buster, it is all on backorder. Any other suggestions for breaking in bushings?

I would not jack with the bushings my best motor wore out the frt bushing b sure to keep oil on them!!!!

I am headed to the Tamiya Nationals this August and the spec motor for the Mini class is a black can sport tuned.

Any suggestion on how to break in one of those black sport tuned sealed motors.

The brushes were softer so it did not take too much on the water dipping side.

Did you try toothpaste for a few mins ?
It s great for polishing the inside of bushings without overdoing it..

I made the mistake of water dipping one of those motor and ruined it in a matter of minutes. The brushes are so soft they were gone in a couple of minutes. How long are you suggesting to water dip?

I have used smokers tooth paste, it has a little grit to it, in the past on silver can motors but like Kevin said you have to be careful not to over do it. Are the bushing the same on a black can?

I used 4 cells I think it took 3 minutes area. Usually I check after every 30 seconds.

As far as I know the bushings are the same.
