Tamiya M-08

I like the motor wire clip shown in the M08 photos, -its a small thing, but actually like that touch.
Also the transparent gear box cover (which I am guessing is for display), but if that is the actual production piece I love it. Makes tech'ing cars easy ...as its easy to swap the stock 20t pinion for a larger one on the M07 and I presume the M08, -makes it easier to do a quick visual check of the gearing. (the M07 has an easy to remove cover that snaps off).

Someone asked how I mount my shorty pack battery in my M07. I realize this is an M08 thread, but the question was asked, so posting a few photos.
-As you can see the shorty battery is mounted nearly in the center of the chassis, it is slightly offset (only slightly) to the passenger side/right which is counter to the motor being slightly offset to the driver's side/left.
-I also posted a photo showing the weights I've included just under and behind the motor to make weight. I have 21grams of weight in that area, it is a great spot to put the weight as it is at the lowest point of the chassis and just forward of the center of the car.
-I also put some foam not only on both ends of the battery mount but also inside the lining of the chassis to further make the battery snug when in place. No need for tape and the batter does not wobble or slide around. (I taped the foam on the battery mount locations as it didn't seem to stick well w/ use).

..as for new bodies, I am fine w/ anything except the grocery getters they seem to keep releasing. No more Mazda family cars!!
pretty much any car from the 80's and earlier is fine w/ me.

I think some interesting TCS legal bodies would really pump some excitement into the M-class.

Just noticed that the front C-hubs have a 2 degree caster design. Probably the reason, why the C-parts tree is different to M07, although the knuckles look identical. The C-hub caster is realized by inserts that have to be pressed in. Looks quite fragile too me, as there is not much material around. Guess we all should order the 51620 as spares with the kit.
The rest of the chassis looks quite o.k. for me regarding durability. Seems the rear gear box will stiffen the tall looking chassis in the rear enough.
Kind regards, to everyone waiting for the kit,
Matthias

The "fix" might be to allow aftermarket bodies, but that then cuts into Tamiya's bottom line.

Unlike a lot of companies, Tamiya actually licenses the body designs. This... ends up being expensive, and has limited production life, as licences aren't typically permanent. The question is, what are you willing to pay?
