Understanding F1 Tuning: Let’s break it down

Thanks for a Xray X1 how would you check car weight balance as a complete car or check rear pod and front separately.
What will be the effect of adding weight on front or rear thanks

Static weight affects the car in proportion relative to front/rear and side balance and its disposition. Generally, weight in the front helps with steering and weight in the rear helps with rear traction. But like I said it's proportional and relative to what the car is doing.
In other words, its not like weight in the front stays in the front. For example, as you accelerate weight is shifted rearward you will have to factor that both in setup and the way you drive.

Thanks will you play with shims in the motor to help rear side to side balance

He doesn't know about glue anyway, he puts tape on his sidewalls.
I too have tried tape, it's easy, adjustable, and can be undone which glue can't. I have used glue also. With glue I go up to the ridge in the sidewall for the fronts. Rears depend on the grip level but have gone up to the ridge on them also.

To use, cut a section long enough to cover the circumference of the tire. Apply one edge of the tape to the tire at the ridge between the sidewall and tread. Work around the tire until it meets up again. Trim excess and fold down against the sidewall towards the wheel.
TC tires have very short sidewalls so I doubt this would work.

much like touring car, if you don't have a solution for your front tires and gluing/taping -- it doesn't matter what setup you use. CA glue is maybe the largest tuning aid right now.. (sadly). once you have your glue height right then you can consider all of the things posted on the first post...

For the record, i can use Hudy tires on black carpet without gluing and it works well. CRC tires i have to glue.
Speaking of CRC tires, anyone have a solution to the asinine wobbling of their front tires?

I run Gravity tires on black carpet and I don't glue/tape my fronts. Lap times are even with the fast guys at my track. Might be cause of the chassis I run though, a yokomo yr-10f

You can cut a slit in the CRC sidewall and stick a hook pic in there to grab the foam and reset it. Then just apply a little CA to the sidewall to glue up the slit you made.
It's easy if the foam is bunched up really badly from a hard crash and has a huge sidewall bump. If it's ok but wobbly, that's a bit harder.

Also, I appreciate the info on taping.....I'll be more inclined to experiment now that I have a non-permanent option.
In retrospect, the comment from hanulec was indeed helpful....It got the conversation started in terms of F1/Carpet setup info. I stand corrected.
