Laydown transmissions have become the norm at my local carpet track .
The SCT chassis is not drilled for the laydown like the 22T chassis is. So if you want to drill the 3 holes you need to mount the tranny it will mount to the tower just fine.

Hiya

I and my team all run the 22 SCT 3.0 in laydown in the UK national shortcourse series. We all use the Exotec laydown but the TLR version will work as well.

We started with this setup as a base.

For the laydown you will need the following parts.

Rear body mount:

Transmission Braces

Yes the Exotek setup works great in the SCT and the rear body mounts they well stiffen up the body and eliminate the problem with losing the upper brace. Both great products. Heck I recommend the rear body mounts standup or laydown to reduce body movement.

I have tried loads of spring options. Currently it is on AE truck springs, Green front and rear. I ran AE Whites F&R at a recent national on a big 1/8th track as well but went back to the 3 gear standup gearbox for that.

Buggy springs work fine on both ends and give much more variety.

Its not in the setup sheet but I also use the brass front bulkhead

I'm having issues with the steering tie rod ballcups popping off. I have plenty of old AE ballstuds and RPM cups, or even Kyosho stuff. The issue is the inner ballcups are special offset ones. Has anyone tried replacing them with straight ones? It looks like the tie rods may hit the springs without the offset ballcups.

You definitely shouldn't be popping off the inner ones, so I wouldn't worry about changing those out. If you're popping off the outside ones, just switch to TLR6017 and those will stay on well.

I think the inner only popped once, and most likely because the outer popped first and then it snagged on something. I will try the closed end ones, thanks for the info.

My 2.0 SCT is on the verge of being offroad again.
Id like to get a few more races on it as an oval truck, but I dunno.
Stock Slash and Open Wheel Modified Short Course are always going to be popular oval classes.

Back to offroad talk. Stock Slash is dead on offroad here, Mod Corr 2wd offroad
and 1/10 2wd mod buggy are the popular offroad classes here.
Havent seen a Stadium Truck race here in years! Shame I like that class.

What does changing the "VLA" setting to "short" do?

According to the manual it creates a softer front end feel and has smoother steering on corner entry and exit, also increases mid corner steering.

Who makes these rear stiffeners? Maybe I missed it on the exotek site?
