I ran mine this weekend with kit setup, ran pretty well @ 20mm ride height. Went to 60wt all around but will probably lower that to 45 or 50.

Thanks
I only made a few very minor changes to my base setup when I tried the laydown. On my 22-T I did not change anything. Drop it in and see how you like it.
PS liked laydown more on both trucks on med/high bit clay.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a short course truck. I'm trying to decide between the 2.0 and the 3.0. The 2.0 is about 120$ cheaper, but it's also rear motor and I'll be on carpet for a while. Is the 3.0 worth the extra money?

Yes I would go with the 3.0.

I ran my 3.0 this past week at a club race for the first time. It was a large outdoor track with these conditions. Dry, very loose, very bumpy and had a 15mph wind. I ran the box setup to get an initial feel for the truck. I did not run any sway bars, ran the ball diff and three gear transmission. I qualified 1st and made a few changes on the radio with steering and adjusted the ride height was all I did for the main. I had not cut any vent holes out of the body so in the main I parachuted the first jump and feel back to last. Worked my way back to 1st and stayed there until the finish. The truck was real fast and jumped nose up but I am sure it had to do with the body lifting it up, I corrected that with brake. The next club race I am going to try the four gear transmission and gear diff and also try a thinner shock fluid. I think this truck will be very good once I get use to it and get a outdoor setup nailed down. I have not driven a TLR 2wd SCT since the XXXSCT about six years ago. Much Improved!! lol

a couple of the things I did and my truck was extremely good on carpet.

dirt laydown with carpet +3.5 hubs 0 shims inside 2mm on the outside

Durango light brown front springs, super hard.
TLR yellow regular springs
pink sway bars front and rear
wedge front tires with outside and inside wedges dremeled off
rear mini pins with inside and outside rows of pins dremeled off.
2 degrees of toe with 2 anti-squat
TLR gear diff with 60k
19-20mm ride height

These are some of the things off the top of my head and like I said my truck was extremely easy to drive and good. Haven't ran it on carpet since it won the championship but when I did it wasn't like you would think a SCT would feel on carpet.

Cool! I'm ordering my car hopefully today so once I get it together I'll probably start tinkering! It says I need a 48 pinion, but I'm not sure how many teeth to get. Any suggestions for a stock setup?

Make sure you order a 78 tooth spur, it comes with an 84 tooth which is too large for 17.5, I had to steal the spur and pads off my SC10 lol.

Starting point is 78/24, with a fan I went up 3 or 4 teeth from there on a 30x80 astro track.

As a temporary fix, you can glue the inserts in. This way, you'll have both inserts working together making it twice as strong - although you'll lose the adjust ability.
I looked through the thread and didn't see anything on this lately so I apologize if I missed it. Has there been any update on the inserts to improve durability?

Does the stock sct 3.0 shock tower work with that dirt laydown conversion kit ? It says in the product description that it has everything needed .. but its for the stadium truck so I was just wondering if their were any other pieces you had to add to make it work .. Laydown transmissions have become the norm at my local carpet track .
