That's an ok servo. Fast enough and strong enough, but even though it's advertised as having metal gears it has one plastic gear that seems to break alot. There are better options. I personally like futaba servos, but they are pricey compared to others. (worth every penny though). Savox and Hitec are also good brands with reliable servos.

Savox 2274SG, SG is for special steel or spring steel and so far have proven to be the toughest servos thus far.

The only draw back to Savox is they can glitch because of excessive power draw, this is an issue mostly with weak power bus in the some of the older spektrum receivers and sometimes weak BEC in Speed controllers.

Futaba servos are also very nice

My overall choices so far for electrics
Savox 1257/1258 for 1/10th scale
Savox 2274SG for 1/8th scale
Hobbywing Speedos
Futaba Radio (4PKS-R, 4PX)

I really like Trinity motors, I use em all in 1/10 and have used D8's in 8th scale but last year my bullet proof setup was Hobbywing to Teking Gen2 1900kv

Trackstar red can motors, local guy runs them and swears by them, not to mention he is a top tier driver.

I have my RX8 set to high voltage and use a Savox 1270TG.

I understand this is a much better built racing machine but I recently got a Typhon and am enjoying it. Do you think a lot of the parts will be able to be upgraded on the Typhon from the DEX8's components?

They should. Obviously we won't know until people start getting the DEX8 in their hands, but It should be upgradeable.

It looks like stock my Typhon came with 7 10 7 diff oil and 550 shocks.

I need to rebuild one shock that seems to have leaked, I've seen 7 7 3 thrown around quite a bit for diffs have you guys ran previous Dex models and have any idea what diff setup may work a bit better for track work vs the semi bashing setup on the stock Typhon?

I would try 7-5-3 for a starting point on the diffs. That's a good starting place on most all 1/8 buggies. On the shocks, it will depend on the pistons as to what oil to try. Is there anything that shows how many holes of what size?

Try this:

Shocks:

Front 500cst
Rear 350cst

Diffs: 5/7/2

That will be a pretty good starting point for a dirt track with reasonably big jumps and good medium high grip.

The track is indoor, they do 1/8th buggies and SCT's but not 1/8th truggies, its a bit smaller and its clay surfaced. Planning on running like proline electrons or chainlinks?

Wow the HITEC HSB-9360TH looks to be an amazing servo. Steve Neu motors in them, I only used Neu motors in my Helis, ultra efficient. Not sure what good the power regeneration would be or MPD gear but I may have to invest in one to find out.

Thanks for posting.

Can this DEX8 car be compared in quality, racing capabilities, durability, etc. directly with the best buggies out there like Mugen, Losi, Tekno or Xray? Based on the Durango website looks like it could be a great racing machine.
Sorry if the question is stupid but it's unknown brand where I live.
